Whilst I see much more results from Squidoo in my searches than from Hubpages or other web 2.0 platforms, that doesn't mean they are right. They are simply the oldest and the one with the most indexed content and have already weathered a Google storm. Tackling the same content is very different from tackling the same keyword and yes, it is very difficult to supervise for a site! I came across the pepper and salt mill articles and was like ?What??? Unfortunately it is a sad truth that copycats will try to copy what works for others in order to make a quick buck of the hard works of others ...

Things changed last year Jimmie -unfortunately for years people will keep on repeating the same tired old advice - Panda is widely misunderstood. It had nothing to do with backlinks - it was all about on-site content and the example Sam gives is exactly why sites like eHow and hubpages got slapped big time.

It may be that its a percentage thing too - if you have 3 overlapping pages on a site with 10,000 indexed pages - it probably doesn't matter so much - but on a site with 30 pages - it almost certainly matters.

Hmmm... this is interesting and seems to go against the advice we've heard from Squidoo for years -- if someone has already written on a topic, and you can do it better, go for it. We've never been discouraged from tackling the same topic there. And Squidoo fared well in the Panda update. It seems to me that ANY site that is based on user generated content will have overlapping content. There is no way around it because you can't police the topics people write about. Just recently I published a page on Salt and Pepper Mills and another writer published TWO on the same day about the same topic (not identical keywords, but very close). It didn't make me mad. That's her choice. I merely hope I did the better job.

I too thought my son had Asperger's Syndrome. He had all the symptoms. But 2 years ago he was diagnosed mildly autistic. The hardest part for me is his social life. He only has one friend and I know that must be lonely for him. I thought he would get better with age but he's turning 14 now and nothing much seems to have changed.

@graceonline I agree completely about worker treatment, but I don't think the answer is taking the work away from non-Western countries. Global businesses are a much better way to improve the situation.
