Overlapping Content
Thanks for your long comment(s) that add a few nice long tail keywords to the article, Humagaia ;-) Yes, and another thanks to Katie for the reason you mentioned ;-) As for the rest, finding an algo that the Wizzley team could use would be a good idea, but I am not sure how to do / program this on this platform. On my own websites I use theKeyword Strategy plugin (see discrete affi banner above) for that as my websites all run on Wordpress.
As for a keyword targeting a completely different demographic ect, I agree again. Especially if you take in account the recent emphasis on personalized search results and social media signals. I am more and more convinced that the (in)famous first page of Google we all want to end up on will be soon a thing of the past as there will be a personalized first page for each of us.
One example, I do write a lot about travel locations on my own travel sites. I do a lot of my research in Wikipedia and very little on Tripadvisor or Lonely Planet. Guess what? Over time I noticed that Google less and less presents me with search results from travel sites and gives me more results from websites that provide background information about the location (geography, culture, flora, fauna etc)
So, in conclusion, if your article is aimed at a complete different demographic, chances are high that it will show up in their search results.
As for writing on Hubpages, as long as the writers account / sub-domain is still flavor of the month with Google, why not. Depending how it is done said writer, that writes across several platforms, could establish him/herself as an authority on the subject or as a spammer in Google's eyes. Writing about overlapping content on Hubpages is a bit useless, with their switch to sub-domains they have already done what they could do realistically to address the problem some how, but bearing in mind the masses of content and writers (and spammers!) there it might well be an impossible task. I liked to write also for Infobarrel, and whilst their content ranks well, their ad placement is so bad that my conversion rate is close to zero. If I get, once in a blue moon, a click from them, it is typically a very nice one, read several $ worth, but they do happen so little that it is not worth my time.
Oops, this answer is nearly longer than my article ;-) Did it help some what? If you have anymore questions / suggestions please stop by again ;-)
