I have used the Lorann brand for making hard candy. Good stuff.

So happy to see that you are 'settling in'. One can't help but love Wizzley, everyone is so nice and helpful here. I'm like you by finding the atmosphere here more pleasant than HubPages, and I find some of my 'old friends' here. Wishing you much success as you write...

Nice Article, Very well laid out and informative read on how to sharpen a drill quick and fast besides running out to buy a new blade. Thanks Mike

very good ideas. After we had our fireplace sealed up when a child, mom used to hang my brothers and my stocking on the front of the couch near the tree...

thanks brl for adding your fine comment and I agree, some things are pathetic and eating with your mouth open is one of them. It must be from lack of instruction at home or failure to parent properly. I remember distinctly hearing both parents instruct me "no one wants to see that" also "it's bad manners". Evidently back then it was mandatory to learn to eat properly as a reflection on your parents...

I love the look of flannel pjs for women. Pairing the bottoms with a solid colored t-shirt extends the options for wearing them.

Love Harry Potter. If I didn't already have the first 6 movies in a box set, I'd definitely grab this set as it's great value.

I love granite. Our kitchen has thick bamboo worktops but we have a black granite chopping board and placemats which are a perfect contrast with the wood. The next kitchen we get will have ganite worktops because I love the idea of just placing hot pans down - you can't do that on wood without risking leaving a mark.

Some great ideas. I like your unusual ones. The stockings will be safer away from the fire although I know Santa will have further to walk from the fire.

@Grillster - I'd never thought of keeping some binoculars handy, that's a really good idea.

Brings back wonderful memories of when my kids were small. We spent many fun hours in the snow with a sled.

They look very nice. Granite seems like a great choice.

Your farm is beautiful! I love the concept of homesteading and homeschooling. Very idyllic and old fashioned. Can't wait to see what else you write about here. (Thanks for linking to my article!)

I love my Kindle. A week or so ago it stopped working. I contacted Amazon and they asked a few questions. Then within a day a replacement was arrived and I sent the old one back. Amazon's Guarantee is really iron-clad. I did need to back-up my own stuff, PDF's and Audio but as soon as I logged in every book I have bought - about 250 - was sent again.

Thank you very much.

I really like the door hanger idea. We do our down the stairway that just happens to be above our buffet/tv area..the trouble is they sometimes fall behind and we have to go on a fishing expedition.
