There are different types of water filters in the UK
Ours fits under the kitchen sink, and we have a separate tap on the left-hand side of the sink. All drinking and cooking water comes through this special tap.
The filter cleans out any impurities that might be left in the water before it enters the tap. Some more expensive ones, filter the water as it enters the house. from the mains water supply. We change it every 4 months.. The filter under my sink is about 9 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. We love it .
