New Disney/Pixar film trailer looks to the skies
With one of the summer’s biggest family movies, Cars 2, yet to hit cinemas, there is still a great deal to look forward to. However, it seems Disney and Pixar are also keen to get us revved up for one of its other latest film trailers.
Although no one is quite sure yet if Lightning McQueen or any of his friends from Cars will make an appearance in Disney and Pixar’s new spin-off movie Planes, one thing looks certain from the clip that has appeared online this week: fans of the hotrod-racing original can expect similar thrills and spills from this particular flight of fancy.
However, if you’re one of the many people who will be lining up to buy 241 cinema tickets for Cars 2 when it hits the big screen across the UK on July 22nd, don’t expect the same from Planes when it finally gets a release in spring 2013. This is because Disney has decided to put the movie out as one of its direct to DVD (and no doubt Blu-ray) movies in a couple of years’ time.
While the trailer itself doesn’t give too much away in terms of plot, it does tell us a little about the central character audiences will be focusing on. Opening with a thrilling aerial sequence that could rival film and cinema classics like 1986’s Top Gun, the clip shows powerful fighter jets as they twirl majestically through the sky. But it’s not long before we’re introduced to a slightly more modest machine, packing considerably less power and a propeller rather than an afterburner.
If you’re looking for the latest film news, you probably won’t find much else on Planes at the moment, but of course, if you can’t wait for your next hit of Disney and Pixar, there are a selection of new film trailers out there that will show you what to expect from Cars 2.
The movie reunites Lightning McQueen with his old friend Mater, who team up to travel the world taking part in an international Grand Prix. However, the pair get caught up in a much more complicated web of global espionage that takes them on an adventure beyond anything they experienced back when they met in Radiator Springs.
As well as bringing back Owen Wilson and Larry the cable Guy for this second auto-outing, Cars 2 brings double Oscar-winning Hollywood legend Michael Caine on board, plus Emily Mortimer, Eddie Izzard and John Turturro.
