Kids Learn Shivery Shades of Halloween

by RuthCox

Rich in colorful words and illustrations, SHIVERY SHADES OF HALLOWEEN: A Spooky Book of Colors is an oh-so-delightful learning book for kids.

In the reading of the book Shivery Shades of Halloween, by Mary McKenna Siddals, children will learn the not-so-frightful spooky spectrum of the color wheel.

While black and orange are most often used as the decorative colors of Halloween, nature and its seasonal fare offers up an array of colorful hues from which to choose to decorate our homes and costume ourselves in the spirit of the ghosts and goblins of the holiday.

What could be more delightful than to teach children shades of color through book illustrations and a rhythmic story of Halloween? Not a thing!

What Color is Halloween?

Shades of Orange, Red, Black, Brown, Yellow, Blue, Gray, White, Purple, and Green

Captivated by the colorful pages and words of rhyme, toddlers will burst into fits of giggles of delight as they follow the little monster from one color to the next. Imaginations of preschoolers are sure to run wild, so you may want to have a box of crayons and a roll of drawing paper on hand so the children can draw SPOOKtacular pictures of their own after the reading of Shivery Shades of Halloween.

Boo!

Colorful Card for You

Oh yes, reading Shivery Shades of Halloween with you became the inspiration for me to create something new!

Holiday postcards are a lot of fun to send, with colorful words drawn from beginning to end. But of course, mine are not nearly as fun as those in Siddals' Halloween book for kids.

Mary McKenna Siddals is also the author of Compost Stew, an alphabet book for kids.

Yes, you and your children simply must read it and learn the ABC's of composting, too.

Beware, for if you don't—Halloween witch may very well be stewing you!

Ambassador Sally says, "Five FANGtastic smiles for Shivery Shades of Halloween!"

Sally sat outside under the shade of the fig tree as I read Siddals' SPOOKtacular Halloween book with her. I do declare, I heard Sally giggle with glee. I swear!

Now, as much as I would love to keep this book in my collection on the book shelf along with others by Mary McKenna Siddals... Well, I love my grandson Liam more. And being that he just this month turned four... Shivery Shades of Halloween is on its way to Liam in his happy birthday box from his Grandma Ruthi!
