Product Description: Frozen pollock fish fillets from the Gorton’s frozen fish brand seasoned in a garlic and butter sauce. My wife and I purchased a box of these fillets (two fillets in total) from one of our local grocery stores a couple weeks ago for around $2.50 with coupon and she ended up cooking them in our oven last night as part of a fish dinner for the two of us.
Review of Gorton’s Garlic Butter Grilled Fillets

My wife and I purchased a box of these a couple weeks ago and ate them last night. Read to find out what I thought of them.
Not Enough in the Box
I’ve had other products from the Gorton’s brand in the past and have enjoyed those purchases. However, their products do tend to be on the higher side when it comes to price and, more often than not, I do end up leaving them in the freezer section in favor of more affordable options. Plus, there are only a limited number of stores around here that actually sell this brand and I don’t always shop at those stores.
However, my wife recently clipped a coupon for the Gorton’s grilled fillets and, since one of the local grocery stores already had them on sale, we decided to purchase a box. Since we knew this wouldn’t be enough for the four of us, my wife and I kept these in the freezer until we had a night when we could just make a dinner for two. That happened last night and, once again, I was impressed with a Gorton’s product.
There were a couple things I liked about the grilled fillets. The first was the taste. I was a bit concerned about this because of the sauce that was on them (I usually prefer to keep fish simple and typically don’t have much more than salt and pepper on it). But, it had a good flavor with just the right amount of garlic.
The fillets also seemed to have a decent amount of quality to them. My fork cut right into them and they flaked apart. Compared to many other brands, this was definitely a pleasant improvement.
My only real complaint was the quantity. As I said, I knew, when we purchased this, it wouldn’t be enough for all four of us. However, as it turns out, one box really wasn’t enough for two people either and, in hindsight, we should have purchased a second box.

Final Opinion
I really did like this product and would definitely recommend it. However, the smaller boxes are just too small and I would recommend planning on buying at least one box for every adult that is going to be eating them.

Your A grade and your recommendation for larger serving-size packages make sense even as I managed quite a few purchases at reasonable special prices over the past few years.
Might you have a set menu that you and your wife serve with these fillets? Might you share what drinks and sides and desserts you and your wife tend to serve?
StevenHelmer, Thank you for pictures, practicalities and product.
In particular, I appreciate the observation by you and your wife that one package will not serve more than one adult. I look forward to trying this since there was a recent special over Groton's cod and shrimp, both of which turned out actually quite scrumptously tasty.
