Product Description: Pre-packaged sausage product made with chicken instead of pork and seasoned using real apples. I purchased a 4-pack of these sausages for a little less than $4.00 at one of our local grocery stores yesterday morning and prepared them on the grill as part of a family dinner last night.
Review of Johnsonville Apple-Flavored Chicken Sausage

A review of the chicken sausage product I purchased at one of our local grocery stores yesterday morning.
Review
After not eating all that healthy the past few days (my daughters had an ice show), I decided to try to make up for it last night by having a home-cooked grilled dinner. The plan was to make steaks. However, my mother-in-law as up visiting and, since I knew she really didn’t care for steaks, I decided to pick up something special for her. This ended up being a package of the Johnsonville Apple-Flavored Chicken Sausage.
I primarily purchased this product because it was something I knew she had never tried before. The fact it didn’t have any added MSG (something I know doesn’t agree with her) was a big plus. And, overall, I thought this was a decent purchase.
One thing I noticed right away when I tried some of this sausage was the lighter taste. It wasn’t as heavy as some other meats and, because of that, didn’t leave me with the same bloated feeling I’m used to getting when I eat bratwurst, hot dogs, etc. Also, even though these were made out of chicken, it was actually surprisingly hard to tell that. The apple taste did a good job disguising the meat and, had I not seen the package, I probably would have still mistaken it for pork.
My only real complaint about the flavor is the sausage did fall a bit in the bland category and could have used a little more seasoning overall. My mother-in-law, however, did not have this same opinion so this is probably just a personal preference thing.
I was also a little disappointed by the fact there were only four of these in the package. Since the sausages aren’t overly large (bigger than a hot dog but smaller than a bratwurst), had I not made the steak too, I probably would have been forced to buy two packages of this product to make sure I had enough for everyone to get their fill.

Final Opinion
This product was definitely better than I was expecting it to be. I’m not sure if it is something I would purchase on a regular basis. However, I definitely would consider it again and I know my mother-in-law plans to look for it at her local stores when she gets back home.

I found them in the hot dog section of our store.
I really loved these, for me the size & the taste was just right, I don't like anything too spicy or with a heavy taste & these weren't spicy or heavy, as I said, they were just right for me. I loved the apple flavor & the fact that they were made from chicken & I don't care for pork. I sure hope that I can find these in our local grocery store.
