Review of Land O'Lakes Low Fat Cottage Cheese

I have purchased other Land O'Lakes products in the past (mostly butter) but honestly didn't even know they made cottage cheese until about a month ago. My wife and I were going to make our regular trip to Costco and my grandmother, who wasn't able to go herself, asked if we could pick up a few items for her, including this one.

Being a big cottage cheese fan myself (I like having it as a before-bedtime snack), I decided to pick up a container of this product. And, after trying it that first time, it is now a regular item on my shopping list.

One of the things that originally attracted me to this product was the price. I was able to purchase a container of this cottage cheese for roughly the same amount as a smaller container of our regular brands and simply could not ignore that value. However, in addition to the great price, the quality actually exceeded my expectations.

I've had a few different cottage cheese brands over the past year and this one is definitely one of the better ones when it comes to taste. The cottage cheese has some flavor to it (unlike some other brands). But, while I can taste a hint of salt in it, it's not overly salt, as was the case with some others I've tried.

Another thing I found I liked about this product is it is much thicker than many other brands we've purchased. A lot of times, when I buy a less expensive brand, it's very milk-like with few curds in it. That is not the case with this brand. In fact, it's one of the few brands I've purchased and have actually finished the container. And, considering I really hate wasting food, that really says something about the overall quality of this product.

So far, I haven't seen this brand in any of our local stores and, as a result, have to wait until we drive to Costco (about 30 minutes away) to purchase it. But, it's also a product that is well worth making that trip for.
