At a very early age my mom turned me on to astrology. In truth what she said was, "Kiddo, you're a Pisces, you're going to get into it anyway--you might already being into it without even knowing--I'll give you a head start."
Good old mom!
It wasn't until I was an adult that I began to follow western, sun-sign astrology more (I think there is merit to other forms and levels, I just haven't delved into them personally). In studying the different characteristics of each sign I began to believe there was something to the assignment of specific personality traits to signs of the zodiac. I didn't care about the science (or lack thereof) to the practice, I just noticed it *worked!* Increasingly, as I go through life shaking my head trying to understand the motivations and nature of my fellow man, I find myself turning to my trusted books of astrological knowledge (Linda Goodman still occupies the first position!). Again and again I've seen evidence that there must be SOMETHING to it all.
I don't use astrology to predict trends (I probably should), I don't know how it works or why (and I probably should). What I DO know is that, after years and years of reading up on each of the signs, I have become a bit of a guru at the art of assessing someone, often before I have officially found out what their sign is (and oh DEAR how scorpios *hate* this, tee hee!). If I can't predict what someone is right away I can usually get a person shaking her or his head in recognition soon after I find out what sign the person is. "Yes, I love dogs, I love ALL animals but dogs the most!" the one will say. "No, you've got it all wrong, I hate animals, I hate astrology and I hate YOU!" another will respond.
The bottom line is I feel that ANYTHING that helps one understand one's fellow human beings can't be a bad thing, whether it's b.s. or not. Getting to know the signs and their personal quirks has helped me immensely and I've found it to be fairly accurate.
Below I list each sign, followed by a brief "con" and "pro" description stuffed with double-negatives! I tried to be as a-sexual (or pan-sexual?) as possible, for in ONE thing at least it seems women and men are fairly similar! I'm no expert, but check out your sign and see if you agree (tell me why you DIDN'T agree and I'll be sure to explain to you your sign never WOULD agree with me no matter what I said ANYWAY, ha!). Try it out on your spouse or partner and enjoy sleeping on the couch for a week! Confuse and irritate your friends! But whatever you do, don't take it personally, it's all meant in fun.
Keep watching the stars!

Sun sign astrology is too simplistic. Each person has a dominant planet and that rules their nature, depending on the sign that planet is.
It's a funny thing...there are always exceptions and someone will always be quick to point out to me that rising signs and moon signs, birth date and location have a great influence...there aren't enough hours in the day for me to study it fully but I've been cross-referencing various books for 25 years or so and they seem *fairly* consistent! (And Goodman's book still seems relevant!)
I first read Linda Goodman's Sun Sign MANY years ago. It's still an insightful and entertaining introduction to astrology. I usually read mine, and a couple of others where I have significant transits going on.
Very interesting read, I enjoyed the descriptions you provided for each sign very much. I see so much truth and evidence in the signs but I don't fit the mold of my sign at all... well maybe a little bit...
