A short resume of my online work
... and what I am doing now.
Since 1998, when I first became "hooked up" to the internet, I’ve been creating websites and later blogs and doing this has become a hobby as much as, or perhaps more than, work. It’s not that I have so much to say, it’s that I like to try out new things, and if a site allows me free registration, I’ll try it!
I’ve worked online at BellaOnline, Suite101 and I've also worked finding advertisers for an online mall, a small stint as a web researcher (very boring) and a Community Moderator for iVillage.com.
Do you make money online?
... tell the truth now!
What I am doing now
... and what I am looking forward to doing
Right now I am interested in working for myself without any deadlines, being creative, and creating my own websites and blogs, and more to imporantly, sticking with them.
Squidoo is where I really began to get serious about working online for a living. At first my intent was to become more comfortable with my writing, even though I had been paid for it in the past, but it was also to help me find out what I enjoyed writing about. To some that may sound odd. don't I know what I like? However I have found that my hobbies offline aren't subjects I enjoy writing about.
I love to scrapbook, but I find it hard to write about. I'm great teaching a scrapbooking class and getting people motivated when I am in the same room with them, but writing about it is tedious. Perhaps I would be better at vlogging, but I don't see myself ever doing that.
I also love to travel, but again, I find it hard to write about. I'd rather be travelling.
Finding educational resources for kids is one area I enjoy writing about and seem to do well in. Another is inspiration and motivation. I enjoy writing about it, not sure how successful I will be though. But I am looking forward to finding out.
When I asked both of my teen daughters what I should write about, one said parenting, the other suggested listening. Why? Because according to them I am good at both. Wow!
While I am hesitant to write too much about parenting, I do have a lot to say on the topic. My fear is that as soon as I start telling everyone else what to do, my life will become similar to that of Britney Spear's mother. Write the book, and then Murphey's Law will kick in. I'm not sure I'm that brave.
As for listening, well, I've been told I'm good at that many times. I also know how to talk... and talk ... and talk.
And then there is my artwork, but I haven't even begun to do anything about that after 10 or so years on Cafe Press and another few on Zazzle. I'll leave that subject for another time.
My life offline
... just a quick peek
I’ve moved around a lot during my lifetime, most of it during the last 20 years. I’ve lived in 9 different places, which can be broken down to 7 countries plus 3 different, very different, U.S. States, and four continents. I've moved house many times within those cities, twice in the last year here in Melbourne, Australia.
I often wonder if I will ever settle. As much as I would love to, I get bored easily and love the new as well as the adventure. But wouldn't it be nice if I could start a garden and have it year after year without having to start over somewhere else, in a different zone, with different planting times? I'm sure other gardeners can relate to that.
I grew up in Australia and recently, after 20 years, I've moved back with my family. I now fully understand the meaning of the saying "You can't go home again". Everything is just a little bit different, but at the same time, not different enough.
Moving around a lot has taught me a lot about myself, and about other people. One thing I have learnt from all of my traveling, is that people are basically the same. We want what is best for our family, for our children and for our country. We just have different ideas on how to get there.
Have you moved around much?

Fun to learn more about you. You are a traveler for sure! And what a huge compliment from your girls re parenting. That's precious! I hope you made a note of that in a journal. I look forward to more of your writing!
Nicely put together and great to learn a bit more about you! I find the internet fascinating for the opportunities it presents to connect with others and to make our own little way in the world!
