As a genealogist, I'm forever staring at surnames looking for clues. You're right, there can be some hilarious ones going on there. You can only guess at what caused them to have a name like that back in the mists of time.

Thanks, Sara. And good luck with cleaning out your desktop. Shout up if you need anything.

Awww! Thank you very much, Winterfate.

LOL Ok, I'll muse on it and see where I go. Thanks!

Our country is full of hills and valleys, and folk who moved from valley upwards to the hill and vice versa was called by the location they came from, so we can expand this to Valley (surname) from the Hill (village), or Hills from the Hill or Hill from the Valley and so on and on. And than enters their professions and house names, many times named after a relative from centuries ago or old owner's profession...
Many hours of fun, if you want to dig to the depths of the folklore:)
Cheers!

No, I didn't have problems with Japanese beetles yet, but I have been battling wars with plant lice for some time. Soapy water didn't work for me, but vacuuming would be interesting alternative. Than, by coincidence I found a lady bug on my plants and the problem was solved fast.
Thanks for these good eco-friendly tips. (And some fun too:))

I believe we can build good foundation for reading habits in very early age with a kid in a lap. Soothing sound of a parent's voice and cuddling moment are enough for memorable positive experience. If the book is good, even better.
Thanks for the tips!

I am sorry to hear that. This substance has been used for a centuries in southern and eastern parts of country. Today it is used in almost every part of the country. Information that I have come from the capital (Bogota).
But you need to know that in modern world, drugs travel all around the world, so you can find them in London, Moscow...

For example, in Bogota, you can find trees on the street and in parks, which are used for extraction of Scopolamine.

All the best!

Well explained. Will look at this again when cleaning my old desktop. Thanks

I haven't eaten mung beans in years, but you have reignited my interest in them, thank you!

I've been told, just write about what you know. I do love to spin, but it's starting to strain my eyes.

I really enjoyed these posters! Isn't the one of Marilyn and James Dean beautiful? What a gorgeous pair!

I didn't know that Marilyn was so thin!

Neat article. Enjoyed it!

Electric bikes are not only useful to women but to every one. Thanks for sharing the details.

This is a pretty interesting article! I agree totally with the fact that sometimes, it's not what you say, it's HOW you say it. :)
