Cake Push Up Pops

by Janet21

It's not a cake, not a cupcake and not a cake pop. Cake push up pops are the latest craze in sweet treats!

I first came across these unique cake push up pops when I was writing up a post for my Kid's Birthday Party blog. It was a post on Celebrity Kid's birthday parties. The party was hosted by Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott for their daughter Stella. You can view all of the party details here . One of the desserts served at the party were girly pink cake push up pops, also referred to as cakeshooters.

These push up pops reminded me of a treat I used to buy from the ice cream truck when I was a kid. They were vanilla ice cream with a chocolate syrup swirl. You just kept pushing the ice cream up until it was all gone. Cake push up pops are a new twist on this old favorite!

These cake pops are super easy to make and perfect for bakers of all skill levels.

Serving individual treats at parties and get together's has become more and more popular these days.   It seems as if cute desserts that come in small packages are all the craze.  First it was cupcakes, then cake pops and now the cake push up pop has hit the dessert scene.

Cake push up pops also make a wonderful display on your cake table.   You can set them up in an acrylic cake pop stand or create a dazzling table centerpiece by inserting the cake push up pops into a decorative styrofoam base.

If serving these cake pops for a birthday party or other celebration, you can attach a personalized party label onto the outside of the container and embellish with curling ribbon.

Cake pop containers are made of clear plastic and come with a cylider, base, stick and lid.  The lid is one of the best features of these pops because it makes them super portable.   You can take them on the go with no fuss and no mess.   Hand them out as party favors, bring them to your child's school to celebrate their birthday or just grab them as a quick snack if you are on the go!

About Cake Push Up Pops

The basic concept of cake push up pops is layering.   Generally, cake and icing is layered in the push up pop container to create a colorful treat.  You can also add some cake sprinkles to the top to finish off your pop.

There are a few ways in which you can make these cake pops.  The first is to bake your cake in mini muffin pans since these miniature muffins fit perfectly into the pop containers.

Another option is to bake a thin sheet cake and then cut out the circles.  To cut out the circles you can use the end of the push up pop container or you can use a small cookie cutter.  Both will do the job.

Once your cake is baked and shaped, place it in your pop containers with alternating layers of your favorite icing or frosting.

Using cake and icing for these pops is the most popular way to serve them, however, I have also seen these push up pops filled with pudding, ice cream and jello.

Since there are so many ways in which you can create a push up pop treat, the best thing to do is to purchase the containers and then experiment.  It is quite possible that you will come up with a cake push up pop that nobody else has tried yet.  There is really no wrong way to make these pops, so get creative and have fun with them!

Whether serving these cake push up pops at a party or just making a fun dessert for your family, these treats are sure to please!

I remember you could buy the ice cream push up pops when I was a kid. I love this idea and the great thing is you can put things that are good for the kiddies (and adults) and they won't mind!
