A few more gadgets for the geek in all of us. Hope they will inspire you when choosing a gift for family or friends this holiday season. If you like what you see on this page, check out Part I of this Cool Gadgets series as well (see image on the right). It’s hard not to love these devices. They’re all fun and practical ideas, but some go the extra mile, like the Prynt case, which can actually embed videos in the printed photos! (No, you can see the images moving as you look at the photo itself -- you can see them with a special app; still, great, enchanting idea!). Then there’s The Cube projector for mobile, which can turn your back yard into an outdoors movie theater, and many bargain devices, like solar chargers or magnifying screens for smartphones, which would make great stocking stuffers. Enjoy my roundup of geeky, fun electronics and travel accessories!
Cool Gadgets for Geeks and Travelers Part II
by Mira
Fun and useful gadgets, many of them bargains, that make great birthday or Christmas gifts for the geeks and frequent travelers in your life.
Upow Bamboo Multi-Device Charging Station with Docks for Smartphones and Tablets
If you like to keep things tidy and looking good, you may prefer this charging station over regular multi-port wall chargers. Either way, charging your electronics gets much less of a hassle with these devices.
Nekteck 20W Solar Charger with Two USB Ports
This solar charger has three very efficient solar panels, and is ultra lightweight, ultra compact, and highly durable. Take it with you as you roam during the day and charge your electronics when you take a break by simply setting this charger in the sun. Will charge your iPhone 6/6S/6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S6/S7/Edge/Plus, and other devices faster than other solar chargers. Clip it on your bike, tent, backpack, on a tree . . . wherever you find some sunlight. It’s so slim and light that you won’t even know it’s there. And you can also use it in emergencies, when you’re stuck somewhere with no power, or when you go through a protracted power outage at home or elsewhere.
Poweradd 50W Multi-Port USB Desktop Charger
Great to use at home, at the office, or on your travels. It works with Apple and Android devices, as well as other USB-charged electronics.
The Double Umbrela / Two-Person Umbrella
It was about time they invented it. Great if you like to take long walks with your partner in the evenings, and don’t want to carry two umbrellas or squish uncomfortably under an umbrella. Made by Other.
Magnifying Screen for Your Smartphone
Great gadget and Christmas gift for people (some older people, for instance) who only own a smartphone. The result is almost like watching the content on a tablet. Made by Dizaul.
Typewriter Keyboard for Smartphones, Tablets, or Desktop Computers, or a micro-SD card
This typewriter, made froma refurbished typewriter from the 1930s, allows you to write the old-fashioned way while also saving your work digitally. Also, if you want to use it with paper, you can. Made by USB Typewriter. It costs quite a wad of money, but if you have it, it would make a nice gift.
SoundBot Water-Resistant Bluetooth Speaker
Colorful and very practical, this device will give you a brighter start to your day. Note that it’s not waterproof but water resistant, so do not drench it when you shower. Better place it somewhere where it won’t get any direct water. At the time of my writing this piece, this shower speaker is a bargain at $10.86.
Stick scanner, a.k.a. VuPoint Solutions Magic Wand Portable Scanner
Photographing images is easy but sometimes there’s not enough light, or if you’re trying to photograph a page from a book you may find it’s not easy to get it perfectly flat. What you need then is a hand scanner. This portable “magic wand” scanner from VuPoint does the job nicely.
Foot Hammock for Your Desk
Attach this foot rest under your desk and your slack time at the office will be much more enjoyable. Right now it’s a bargain at $14.99. Would make a nice gift for someone who works (too) hard.
Reading Ring / Book Page Holder
This reading ring from Thumb Thing helps you keep a book open easily with only one hand. A bargain at $6.95, makes for a nice small gift to someone who reads a lot.
The Prynt Case for iPhone 6, 6S, SE, 5S
Print photos instantly with this Polaroid camera for the digital age, a smartphone case with ink-free printing technology. What’s more, you can also save a video inside each photo, which you can see with a Prynt app. This great device was made possible through Kickstarter crowdfunding.
The Cube for Mobile Projection
Portable mini projector (2”) from RIF6, light, rechargeable. Includes HDMI cables and tripod.
Now you can set up a screen in your back yard, invite your friends for a barbecue, and then sit down and enjoy the videos you shot with your smartphone or tablet.

Yes, it's quite a useful tool :)
Yes I especially like the page aid, assisting in the holding of a book open while reading is appealing, my hand sometimes cramps when reading a heavy or new book. Genius idea!
Katie: Glad you've enjoyed them!
Thank you, Tolovaj! There's now even a charger (or more) that gets power from bike wheels.
All very clever ideas
Great list for this year's Santa's letter! I want everything above but the solar charger is still my favorite.
Thanks :)

Thank you, Sally!
I can certainly use that smart phone magnifier! Thanks for rounding up these goodies!
