Wizzley Tutorial Feedback Appreciated

Hey guys and gals. I've been pushing through to learn about how to build video tutorials (for work and building my skill set) so I thought what better way to practice than to build a Wizzley series for how to set up a page, initial settings, the whole shebang in 8 parts or so... I completed one part covering how to create a wizzley page (basics) from clicking the "create a page" and terminating just before I go into (next video) the modules and all their wonderful features.

I've uploaded my first tutorial to YouTube so clicking the link below you can take a look. I'd love it if anyone could give me brutally honest (but polite) feedback about it i.e. would this be good for a complete wiz-noobie :) or not, and anything else about it. I realize a few places I clipped my voice off i.e. "the best place to get public domain images is Pixabay. c- and I accidentally cut off the "com"... but other than those let me know what you think, what may be missing, or if it's a good segment to use and I should move on to the next.

The url to see it is here:  Creating Your First Wizzley Article Part 1

Have a great day!

Jerrico

p.s. I wasn't sure if this post fit here or in chatter away, but it's on topic and I need feedback so here it is, my apologies if I put it in the wrong place...

Jerrico,  I need to get back at creating youtube videos.  They are such a powerful tool to create quality traffic. That is one AMAZING video, great work a very impressive production.  Hmmm now I expect to read a wizz on how to create such fantastic youtube videos!

Plus you have a great radio and tv voice very good!  Nice pixabay intro as well!

*Whew* Glad you liked it, thanks for that glowing feedback *blush*. In creating a video like this you spent sometimes 8-10 hours recording, editing, and lots of redundant listening/viewing so by the time it's all said and done you have 8 minutes of video but yourself are too burnt out to actually gauge it's quality- so *whew* means I'm relieved. I'm too critical of my own work often it takes weeks after production to really view it impartially :)

I do want to create a video/wizzle breaking down the basics of recording, editing, and key framing (effects/zooms etc...) a video, if for no other reason than to train my boss in how to do it lol. In hindsight it's not all that difficult it's just time consuming. I spent 2 years developing my skill set and I still learn new things. I JUST figured out that whole skewing the page (sideways) trick and it's a simple slider bar and check box in the zoom feature lol but it looks amazing (wait till I develop it)...

I used Camtasia 7.1 to create that. I have 3 more hours of footage to break into 10  minute or less vids... I did run into one hour long problem, instead of pausing it when I was gearing up, then turning record on when I wanted to "tape" I got them backwards so the last video in the set is very humorous as the only footage you see in it is ALL the pauses (what I thought were pauses!)....

Thanks for your feedback Katie, much appreciated.

Very cool, Jerrico!

I discovered one little mistake, though:

The video states that it is the intro text that shows up in the Google SERPs. Not true.

It's the description (or subtitle) right after the title.

That's why the description text is so important.

Otherwise it's pretty brilliant, I must say.

P.S.: Just for better looks (and better SEO), you may also want to edit the video title on YT, to take out all the underlines.

Thanks Chef! Appreciate your feedback- this is rough draft mode, I uploaded it just so you guys (staff and authors) could see it to give feedback. I will be taking that feedback and tweaking it to perfection, naming it correctly (because in reality the initial settings isn't creating an article but setting up your profile stuffs hehe), and so forth. I wasn't sure about which box Google's summary showed up in so thanks for the heads up :)  I will have another 8 or so coming I'm doing these on my weekends...

Off to bed, I pulled an all nighter to finish up and publish some wizzles...

OK, Jerrico.

Btw, I've added a subcat "Heavy Equipment" under "Science & Technology". Does that work for you?

absolutely, thanks! I have a lot of articles on different types of welders, forklift/equipment, generators etc... heavy equipment will work for the forklift and the bigger (i.e. whole house or industrial generators) but what I can't find is something that works for things of the portable generator, welders, air compressors and things of that nature (I write more on the home variety than commercial sized)... any ideas?

On HP they had a category I used called Technology>Materials And Industrial Technology  Which I thought fit well enough... when I try to use the search box on any of these things I get bumpkis...

Currently I'm putting them into: Science & Technology> Technology

Great Tutorial.

It's great to have all of this information in a quick video.

On the other hand, people that are completely new might have a hard time following the quick pace.

However, they could pause and replay it. It's all good.

I'm with Katie. I'd love to see you make a video on how to make a video. Or, write an article about it. I'm running over to take a look at it now.

Thank you Bhthanks :) I find the quick pace (but not too quick) forces people to focus and stops drifting off into thinking too much instead of paying attention. Also like you said they can always rewind, play, pause and watch it more than once. I'll keep that in mind though, thank you! You guys got me pretty stoked about working on video 2 :) Modules... Thanks for the feedback!

@ Brenda - I'll have to figure out how to make a video of making a video-  I'm sure there is a setting that allows for taping even the interface... I would like to make the rest of these first then that will be my next wiz-ject (wizzley project?)...

Hey Chef Keem, how do I delete a project? I have been consolidating projects I moved over and wanted to get rid of them when I'm finished but there doesn't seem to be any way to delete a wizzle (or a forum post for that matter)... is this on purpose or am I missing something :)

Wow! That's great, and it does look like a lot of work. Do you think your speech and movements might be a little too fast? Or, do I just have a slow brain. Maybe some other people could weigh in on this, because it might just be me.

Great stuff! now you have to write a Wizzley on how to make a video for Youtube about Wizzley ;-) BTW I would add more words to the video description on Youtube - food for search engines, you know plus it gives busy people an idea of what this video is all about ... SY

Hey Chef Keem, how do I delete a project?

You can move articles into the trash from the "Action" pull-down menu in your dashboard.

You can't delete forum posts. Only admin can.

@ Chef Keem- OMG I really feel retarded, I know exactly what your talking about (but rarely use it) and now I remember seeing "delete" in there lol, better add that to one of the vids :) Just out of curiosity why can't we delete forum posts?

@Sam, I know about the google food but this was just a preliminary upload to get some feedback, although the video is 99.9% ready to go It's not the final draft (so far only two tweaks needed)... when I upload he final drafts and create a wizzle to contain them I will take all SEO precautions, this is just a test run but thanks for the heads up none the less :). Hey maybe my how to build a tutorial video in camtasia could be a part of the contest... hmmm

@Brenda I ran through it several times and It doesn't seem too fast (to me anyway, but I invite others to weigh in on this too)...

Because it makes you think a little more carefully before you publish something for everyone to see.
