Can i use wordpress.com to promote my zazzle and other affiliate products? I have read somewhere that they dont allow affiliate links, is it true? Please tell if anyone knows here, is there a way out?

It looks like it's fine!

It would be daft of them to disallow it to be honest.

Thanks April_M, i just read it, on one side they are saying they do allow the links but on the other hand it is also written "Sites whose primary purpose is not original content but rather driving traffic to affiliate storefronts will be banned as spam." Perhaps one need to write a blogpost and then only add a few links there.

Younghopes, from what I understand, and I could be wrong, the free wordpress service does not allow affiliate links. If you have your own domain then you can monetize your blog.

wordpress.org allows it, but you have to get your own domain. wordpress.com does not allow it.

Thanks Ologsinquito and Brenda, it is all a bit confusing if you read the link provided above by April_M. Also, i read on their support that they allow text affiliate links and not banner ads of any kind. Its not much clear though

I'd listen to the others, not me. :)  Glad you have some idea of where to go from here but could they make it any more confusing?

HI Young Hopes,

Wordpress is a  Blog and you can even have Adsense if you can work it out. (Bit complex)

I have my affiliate links on mine.

Hi Jo, but are you using wordpress.org or wordpress.com for adsense and afffiliate links?

Hi Young Hopes,

You can do that on either.  What I meant was that getting the Adsense code to take can be a problem.

You need to know a bit of coding.

There are instructions in the admin section.  When I come home tonight I will post the instructions.

There are no rules against monetising  on Wordpress.

Which Wordpress are you using?

Banner ads and Google AdSense stuff isn't allowed on WordPress.com, but I understand that some affiliate links are. There are restrictions--create a blog post that adds value to a reader and not just for the sake of using your affiliate code, for example.

This is what I found about the advertising rules on WordPress.com

I have WP blogs with links, but not advertising (like Adsense).  I mostly blog about gardening on this one: HydrangeasBlue which has wordpress.com in the url, but I have linked to my hydrangea store at zazzle, and included some images from Zazzle- sparingly - if it goes with the post.

Make your blog about something you are interested in, so it's not a "selling" blog.  Or buy a domain name and host it and then sell as much as you want.  Nightowl recently created this one for me, and I do nothing but sell on it.

You can not stick a product up without substantial text, and keep doing that over and over.  Basically what Alexandria is saying is what I agree with for the WP.com blogs.

Thanks Alexandria, i have got the point- it needs to be a blogpost where you can just include the affiliate links to make it look natural.

I am glad you added your links to your .com and .org blogs. I agree they are beautiful. I've always admired your work on zazzle and now to see your blogs is a special treat, Pam.
