Chatter away, friends!

Cannot get into my pages

Maybe I'm having a very 'thickie' moment but for some reason I cannot access my pages.  The normal strapline showing My Pages, Stats, Referrals etc. is not there and I cannot see how to get it to appear.  On the top strap line is merely the Wizzley logo, then Pages, Authors and Search (but cannot search as it doesn't want to permit it).  So, can anyone help me.

I have a friend coming tomorrow to be taken through the Wizzley site as he cannot manage it.  I feel rather foolish if I can't even get into it.  HELP

This is rather strange. All I can tell you is that it works fine here. Try closing the browser and starting it again.

And all the usual things like clearing the cache, trying another browser if you have one loaded, switching the machine off and, after a count of 10, back on again. All the usual stuff to try and make a machine behave.

You do know, of course, that the law of inverse proportions is at play here? The more you want the machine to behave, the less likely it is to do so...

I've had a message off Mari.   She can't get into the forum now.   She can only respond to me by clicking on the notification of a message, as it comes via e-mail.

Geographically, she's on the Isle of Wight, in Britain.  Anyone else from the island having issues?   She's cleared her cache with CCleaner, switched the computer off at the wall and left it off for ten minutes, then tried again.  No joy.

Here are her issues:

  • Create a page link disappeared.
  • 'I can click on pages but that only gives me a selection of articles, authors gives me what it says and when I try the search button with my name, it closes down.'
  • Message centre gone, unless accessed via e-mail notification.

Any ideas?

Is she logged in?

She must have been, as she was replying to my message.

Could you try with another browser?

Which one are you working with? Possibly Internet Explorer 7 or below? Such old browsers are no longer supported.

That was the first question that I asked her, plus which device she's using to access.  But she hasn't come back to me with it yet.  I'll let you know as soon as I do.

I've given her my e-mail address, in case she loses access to the message centre.

Incidentally, everything is working fine for me.  I'm on Firefox.

Same here, all hunky dory in Chrome.

I'd be yelling loudly if it wasn't...I am going to need serious decompression by writing in the next week or so. I'd be yelling so loudly our Jo could hear me clear up in Wolverhampton (or wherever you are this week!)

Now here's a strange thing.  I spoke to a computer-savvy friend just a few minutes ago and he suggested I go into All Programmes click on Google Chrome and log on in a new window.  He thinks that possibly I have somehow been switched to IE (although I never use it to knowledge and all my stuff comes up on Chrome, but computers are a law unto themselves.

Anyway, am now into the site at last, huge signs of relief, and this is just to thank all you kind folk out there who tried to get me out of this mess, especially Jo who has been terrific all day.  It's only a shame that the friend I was introducing to the site has had to go home now and cannot be shown the result.  I shall try and talk her through it or get her over again another day.

Thanks again everyone.  Hasta la vista.

Mari

Yayyyy! Good to have you back, Mari. It's always a bind when computers start to think they're AI instead of mere collections of metal and wires to do our bidding.
