It was about making a Barack Obama lapbook. While she's famous on Squidoo for them apparently, I had no idea of what a lapbook was until i read her LOTD. Way to go girl!!!!! Oh, here's the link. http://hq.squidoo.com/lotd/lens-of-the-day-president-barack-obama-lapbook/

Oh dear! Surely Wizzley is not a platform to promote Squidoo LOTD's? This is most disturbing!

This general chat box is for exactly that - interesting and informed banter and discussion  - personally I am offended that someone can hijack it and promote a Squidoo LOTD, which by definition is synonymous with cupcakes, knitting and all things equally trivial.

I thought we had escaped all that. Bad form I say!

It is a platform to promote our friends' work and to congratulate them. But if I've done something wrong, chefkeem can tell me. I still think it's great.

You are mistaken. This is not a platform to promote your friend or anyone else's work if it sends a link to Squidoo. What makes you think that this forum is a method of advertising?

Oh shush, Paul, don't you know your notoriety may not have preceded you onto this forum yet?

@Digby, Prospero likes to stir up a bit of controversy for the fun of it.

Dear nightowl, receiving a reprimand from you is like being kissed by an enchanting zephyr wrapped in a gossamer veil. It's glorious and I shall say no more!

Before I go, I'd just like to say how honoured I am in the company of such wonderful women!

There's a shortage of blokes here, but fear not - I can hold my own!

Oh, thanks Digby and everyone else!

Can you believe that I've had to delete quite a few negative comments on that lens today? Yeesh! It's an educational lens for teaching children about the biography of our President. I got some very angry comments like "Did you teach your children that Obama is a liar?" and "Why are your honoring that immigrant?"

I'm so flabbergasted by such disrespect and stupidity that I hardly know how to respond (except just to delete). I have to hand it to one lensmaster who wrote that it was a great lens about a terrible president. Okay, I can accept that. Thanks for being able to see the difference between an educational lens and a man!

A couple of people lambasted me for celebrating Obama on Presidents Day since it is reserved for Washington and Lincoln alone. Even if that is true (and I don't see why it should be), I didn't select my own lens as LOTD.

Thanks for a place to vent my LOTD frustrations. I really dislike politics, and this is exactly why.

Congratulations, Jimmie.

Sorry about the negative comments. Best thing is to just delete them. Don't let those spoil your moment :)

There's one thing you can depend on like death death and taxes, and that is lies, damn lies and politics.

Loving the Prospero speech, Old English? It was fun just to open the thread and see the idle banter going on between everyone.. first laugh of the day lol.

Jimmie some people just can't leave their politics alone for a second. It gets so tiring. But be proud of your LOTD honor. I'm not a squid, but I get an email each day alerting me to it. You're in very good company. I always enjoy reading them. I was just so happy when I realized it was "our" Jimmie.

Congrats Jimmie!  Anytime one of your homeschooling lenses gets promoted it's a plus for all kids and parents who homeschool, no matter what the subject matter.

Bravo - job well done as always! Laughing

Interesting - thank goodness they hadn't invented lapbooks when I was a kid -  I could write reports all day long - but once got marked down because my cover was rubbish - I refused to spend any time on the cover because I knew it was a waste of time, that the content was the important bit!

But even more interesting - what age group would learn about a current president in the US? In NZ current politics isn't part of the education system - maybe it would come up if you did Politics 101 at uni/college - but I can't see it being discussed at high school level. LIttle kids might do something about elections in an election year - but I can't imagine learning about an individual -  particularly a living one!
