There are some big changes taking place at Zazzle and I am thinking of expanding to CP.  I had tried it once a long time ago but found it difficult to use.

Anyone have any advice or info to share?

I don't, but if you're leading the way, I'm likely to follow.

What are the big changes at Zazzle?

I used to Cafe Press several years ago. They changed the rules (can't remember what) and a bunch of people left and went to Zazzle. I've been meaning to get back into it. Now I'm not sure where I'll go.

You can read about the changes in the "town hall" post in the Z forum, which is long, but basically, Zazzle is doing away with the Volume Bonus we now make and we'll only see VB for sales we refer (as I understand it).  For anyone making good money at Z, this will be a huge cut to our profits.  My referrals average 2 a month at the present time, unless I sell directly to a customer.

They will also be reducing the minimum mark up from 10% to 5%.  I refuse to sell anything at a mere 5% unless it's stuff I rarely sell at all - but what's the point?  Why bother to even design for those things?  This all starts July 1st - not much notice for those whose paychecks will be greatly diminished.

I am considering trying for additional income at CP to help make up the difference.  They do offer products that Zazzle does not, but I've always had trouble figuring out their platforms for design.  But, I haven't looked at the site lately.

I think that was back in 2008.  I hadn't been at Zazzle for long when the big CP issues started to show up in the forum.  Many CP-ers were bad-mouthing the place big time.  I'm afraid they have burned their bridges now!

The changes tell me they are having some financial difficulties. That's why we all have to diversify. Two of the websites I wrote for have gone out of business. There's just too much competition out there.

I used to do CP but didn't do much with it. I found it a bit tricky to use but Zazzle can be confusing too for a beginner. I guess I could go back and check my store. It's still there last time I looked.

You're welcome, Mira.  There is a lot of discussion if you look around the Zazzle forum.

They are always expanding, but they work out of a state (CA) with big money problems.

I think sellers were just making way too much every month from the VB for it to be an on-going thing.

That's sounds a lot like what happened at CP. If you change from Zazzle to CP will you lose a lot of search engine rankings - or do you just use your own website to drive traffic?

I don't plan to leave Zazzle - not at all - but I think I may need find a way to increase my income to make up for Zazzle's changes.

Squidoo was good to me for a while, but I have given up there, so I need to focus more here, at Wizzley and also other POD's.  Anyone know of any other POD sites that are worth looking into?

I plan to have a website very soon - I believe that is the best way to gather it all together in one place.
