Galaxy S3 Smart Phone- Anyone Have one (or it's predecessors?)

We're in the market for a new smart phone- oh who are we kidding this will be our first "smart" phone. I am eyeballing the S3 and iPhone5 but want a non apple product so the s3 has my attention (and by comparrison is a much cooler phone than the apple one).

Has anyone in here:

1. Had an iPhone and now or ever had an S-2 (galaxy S2) phone? (could you enlighten me if you have tried both and the differences to note i.e. better/worse

2. Bought an S2 or S3(new one) and could you tell me (here or in PM) what you think of the phone and it's capabilities etc...?

I could go to the bazillion review sites but I want a person who has one to tell me about it... I don't need anything elaborate just opinions, cool, easy to use, fun, comparatively  better than other phones etc.... if you have one and wrote a review from personal experience please link me to your article (I may even buy it from there if the price is comparable to costco)...

Thanks!

ANY comments would be appreciated and links to great reviews that aren't recycled hooey from sales pages etc... would also be appreciated (especially features or vids of special features etc...)... I want the NFC charger and capabilities (near field communication allows you to charge a phone with no wires and to automate phone features in macro using an external sticker that is read/powered by the phone field.

Have a wonderful day!

I've got a Galaxy S2--can't complain about it.  Had it for about a year, no problems.  Battery runs low quick when you're playing games, so probably needs to be charged each evening.  Dropped it a few times and no issues.  Never had an apple so can't compare, but would definitely get this phone again when the time arises.

reading this review it sounds amazing!

Galaxy SII vs. SIII

I also found two wizzles with some good info: (both found in the side bar from another wizzley page)

http://wizzley.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-external-battery/ (for knocking out that battery issue right away, a backup supply of 12k mA with 3 full charges (for an s3 he says) at only 80.00 is a great inexpensive option...

Then there is http://wizzley.com/best-camera-phone-smartphone/  a great starter resource for intelligent people ignorant of the smart phone era (experience?) I've never even slid a window on one...

For my first phone I'm going gold all the way- all the gadgets (hint hint, anyone want to build a full S3 phone gadget library for me to SHOP in? I will need the phone, the accessories (standard car charger, case, protective case, extra power source (recharger that itself is a battery), arm strap (for running etc...), pulse monotor (nike makes one I want on amazon  called the nike fuel + band)... and more... the writer of that article just may get a nice month of sales in a few months... if not I'll just shop amazon or wherever myself).

I think the S3 is the improved iPhone, although I'm not fully sure if s-voice has the siri qualities (ask questions get humorous answers)... but I like that you can call someone your texting simply by putting the phone to your ear- the camera knows you did this and just dials... you can also wake it from standby by staying "wake up"... the NFC though- that's an amazing piece of technology that's still in it's infancy (I wrote about the stickers before I knew about the phone- in fact this is how I first learned about the phone::  http://wizzley.com/samsung-tectiles-nfc-stickers/

Thanks for your responses... any more???

What kind of phone do you guys and gals use and why? (if you don't mind, you could PM me too if you like).

Jerrico,

I can make this easy for you

Go and buy the Samsung Galaxy S III

Here is the positive reasons why:

1. Not locked into Apples ecosystem (iphone)

2. Cheaper price product

3. It has a friggin barometer!

4. 0.8 in more screen real estate

5. Better screen resolution

6. Better quality front camera, and both camera's can use burst mode for taking quick successive shots.

7. Better talk and standby time for battery use.

8. Can use NFC technology

9. Comes with 16GB storage and further expandable up to 64GB.

10 The internal hardware is better with a quad core processor and higher CPU clock speed

Here are the negatives.

1. You will need some form of anti-virus, the programs/apps on Google Play do not have a robust check on the quality of the apps like Apples iStore does.

2. Screen pixel density is not as dense as on an iPhone, but still a good screen.

3. The glass on the front is fragile and VERY expensive to replace.

Thats it.

I myself have an iPhone 4 but lots of friends with the Galaxy II & III's and I have played with it lots (The III that is). Its a gorgeous phone and if I didn't have so much tied up with Apple my next phone would be the next Galaxy S IV? release.

We looked at the Galaxy and seriously considered it but since we were moving to a prepaid plan (soooo much cheaper than traditional carriers for smart phones) the iPhone 3GS is what I finally went with as it was cheaper for the phone than the Galaxy.

In my searching I found the cost both phones with 10g data (shared plan) is going to cost us 170.00 a month (unlimited text/call/multimedia text-images etc...) and the phones I found for 150.00 each. Cosco doesn't let you see them working so that sucked but I'm confident it's phenomenal- I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I know that these phones can also be jailbroken to be used with services like boost mobile (there are youtube videos showing you what to do) so that's also an option. I'm pretty much going to use it just for work/tickets/email when I'm traveling or just playing with apps :) I think I'm going with this one, even a few apple users prefer it and I am not going to get locked into apples eco system :)

Now I can't wait to get the dam thing! I like that I can now video conference with Michelle and since I'm at home all the time, I can piggie back on the wi-fi here instead of using data- although on her end there isn't any wi-fi so that sucks...

Thanks for your responses, much appreciated!

Currently a BlackBerry Curve user but if I absolutely HAD to have a touchscreen *eeeek I hate touchscreens!* I'd go with a Samsung. Simply because my ex-boss - who never even OWNED a cell before he bought his Samsung - went with one, and couldn't put it down, was forever taking photos and was over the moon that even on his frequent trips abroad he could access Office on his phone and be working away before he even took his Mac out of the travel case.

Nice! I won't be doing any hard core coding or wizzle building on the phone (although I may try to do it just to see if it can be done effectively).. but I can see I'm going to become addicted to apps...

Well, we decided after long debate and research (and someone emailing me about the note 2) but we decided to get the note 2 (galaxy) and you should see this thing- it was parked next to an iPhone 5 in Best buy and made it look cheap (the iPhone looked cheap)... If anyone is out for a new phone and want the absolute coolest phone- get the Galaxy Note II  (or the S4 in a month which will be cooler still)...

They're calling these Phablets... phone tablets... perfect in both respects...

The S3 is actually an older model we found out....
