Profound changes are underway in the way Google presents results to searchers. Read the announcement here:

This is a must-read for anyone doing any kind of marketing on the web.

I rather predict this one is going to die a death - who the hell wants to see their own photos in a Google search?

I think now is the time to get totally on board with Google Plus if you want to really do well in Google search results in the future.

Interesting.
Not sure if this is relevant, but I have found that recently when one of my Squidoo pages comes up in the results, my photo, name and G+ link comes up as well. Then there is a link to see more and when clicked on all of my other relevant lenses display. I suppose this is due to something they have set on Squidoo? This does not happen when my blog, wizzies or hubs display.
I would like to see this happen for my other results, however the entire real author process confuses me so I never really set it up. It would be great if the pages on all my sites did this, so when you click on see more, my relevant blog posts, wizzies and hubs would display in additon to my Squidoo lenses.
I don't even know if this has anything to do with the original post, but those are my thoughts.

Oh this is tricky.
I'm finding myself doing google searches logged out more and more because I'm seeing less relevant results just because a google+ friend has +1'd them.
I'm not using google+ for my online writing identity at the moment for a few reasons. One is that I have a professional corporate identity already and I'm not sure I want people who look for my academic and industry work having all my writing coming up. It's hard enough being female in a male industry and a lot of my work has Mum written all over it ...
Ah well, if I quit my career maybe I won't need to worry about that in the future!

Yes you do have to use your real name on Google plus instead of a persona which is tricky if you want to keep your personal life and your work life separate. I've seen people who have tried to use persona's on G+, have accounts suspended/deactivated.
Hopefully @Terri, if you do permanently quit your job and work for yourself instead then that wouldn't be such an issue. I get what you're saying about the 'mom' thing if you've worked hard to work your way up the career ladder.
If Google wasn't so important to an income from blogging or writing on sites like Wizzley then I'd pay this news very little attention. I know that Google accounts for around 75% of all my traffic - so without it I'd currently be stuck. So, for me, I'm going to be putting a lot more effort into G+ in future. My online success could well depend on it.

Personally, when I search for information, I do not log in to Google just so that the information isn't slanted. I usually do research other ways, and only use Google for confirmation. I hope this trend dies, because it is less than useless for real searches.

I don't think it will die because of the new advantage of Google over Facebook in the SERPs.
