(Just a rant)

So We got a new kitten (TAZ), a real energetic kitten that won't take crap from anyone (but charismatic as hell)... we had 2 other cats already and rescued this kitty from someone who adopted her then couldn't take her... the first week she was shunned hard by both of the other cats (one boy (5 years) one girl kitten (about 4 months old), Taz is about 2 months old)...

After a week they finally stopped hissing at one another and got along, a week later Taz (girl cat) stole Blue (boy cat)  from Lexi (former "baby" in the house 3-4 months ago until 3 weeks ago) blue won't cuddle or even play with the other cat (who did nothing wrong- just new cat introduced)...

So the problem is Lexi and Blue were so close you'd swear they were married, I got a lot of pictures and video of them cuddling like people lol! Now the new baby has all of blue's attention and he's shunning the former cuddle buddy- even hissing at her if she gets close! WTH??? This sucks.

I'm currently migrating 10 cat articles over so technically this is on topic :) thought I'd share- anyone know how to resolve this type of issue with a cat? I feel so bad for Lexi, it's been 3 weeks and shes been so lethargic and sad, like her poor little heart was broken...

Have you tried 'drugging' them with Catnip or Valerian? How much time do you, the humans, spend with each of the cats? Can you initiate some games where all the three cats can participate together? Have you tried positive re-enforcement techniques to reward good behavior / interactions between them?

Hi Sam, yea I tried all that, it's only been a few days so I'm going to see if it works itself out, I didn't think about catnip, they go nuts over the stuff- that could very well be a great help! Thanks!

You are welcome! I had one time to 'emergency introduce' a foster dog to a resident cat. I covered the poor doggie in Valerian (similar to Catnip) and it was hilarious how the cat walked sniffing around him with a face saying 'It can't be you that smells so good - A DOG!' ;-)

NICE! I tend to resolve a problem (often searching a lot for a good solution) then write an article about it :)
