Latest tiles ordered vertically -- why not horizontally?

I noticed our article tiles under My Profile are ordered vertically, that is the latest is in the uppermost left corner, the one written before it is under it, and then they all go down vertically in chronological order. So they're listed in chronological order by columns rather than rows.

But why not make them in horizontal lines? It's more usual for someone to look for the latest articles that way. In fact, I didn't even know there WAS any chronological order at all until I wondered about the possibility of arranging the tiles chronologically. Before that, I saw no order there at all.

What does everyone think? I've started a Wordpress.com blog and would like to be able to point people to My Profile page and have it easy for them to spot the latest articles.

It's the same with the front page and new page too, I believe it's so that the articles are circulated rather than just getting the initial publicity and then never seeing the light of day again.

Well, that makes sense under New articles but I think less sense under My Profile. I think.
