There's a new Hubber asking about blogging vs HubPages on the HubPages forums and he needs the kind of advice some of you guys can give:
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/93850#post2003470
He originally posted on the forums saying he was planning to write article on Chaplin, but that it would be over 7,000 words and he wanted advice on how to split it up, how to do navigation etc.
I PM'ed him and suggested that if he could write an article that size off the bat about Chaplin, perhaps he should start a blog on him instead. Turns out he is a classic movie buff and has lots of material on Buster Keaton, the Marx Brothers, etc etc.
He is very anxious at the idea of starting a blog and feels his work will get attention more easily on HubPages, (even if he has to put up with clunky navigation). Now we have sub-domains I believe that's not true - if he's going to go the rev-share route, he'd do better on Wizzley - but I still think he should have a blog. What do you all think - and don't answer here, answer on HP!

This is weird Marissa. If someone wants our advice. He needs to join Wizzley. This is home for lots of us now. We don't participate in HP for lots of very valid reasons.

Those forums scare me. I think I've posted there twice. Willing to help but not willing to post there.

Yes I know. This is a person who is a new member of HubPages. I'm trying to persuade him that HubPages is not the right place for his work. Given the nature of what he's producing, a blog would be more appropriate, though I've also told him he should put his off-topic work on Wizzley.
There aren't enough experienced people on the HP forums these days to give him good advice, because they're all here. I'd have thought you'd want to help someone avoid making a mistake and committing a large amount of work to a format which we all know won't work for him, but clearly you're all no longer as friendly or helpful as you used to be.

I think you need to tell him to come here, and not have us go there. Then we can help. Marissa so many of us don't want to go near HP anymore.

Wow Marissa. You just reminded me why I don't hang out at HP anymore.

Yes, seriously folks, why are we talking about other sites here. We should be talking about Wizzley!! Sorry Marissa.

I don't think it's appropriate to go on to a site's forums and deliberately recruit for someone else. Therefore I didn't think it appropriate to post saying, "I'll give you advice but only if you abandon HubPages and come to Wizzley first". Particularly as I'm pretty certain he needs to start a blog with his material, not write for rev-share.
I'd have thought that given your experience with HP, you'd be glad to help out someone who's about to make the mistake of committing his work there. Why make joining Wizzley a condition of being helpful? It's not as if I was asking you to write a Hub or talk to HP management - it's just the forum. I don't get it.
