To my Wizzley Friends

I have been off wizzley for the last couple of days. My mother has Alzheimers and it appears to have taken another leap. She's in the hospital and waiting to be transferred to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation. She's suffering from extreme paranoia, delusions and hallucinations. She won't eat or drink, because she thinks people are trying to poison her.  There aren't any beds available at any of the numerous psychiatric hospitals in Louisville. It appears that business is booming. Any of you who has been through this know that we're all thinking, me next.

I see that many of you have been commenting on my articles. I really appreciate it, and I will reciprocate as soon as things settle down a bit.

Oh, Brenda, I'm so sorry to hear this! I will keep you and your dear mother in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about this Brenda. That is so hard. My grandmother had the same thing but no one else in the family has had it. My "stepmother" has it though. They're moving into a retirement home in a couple of months where she can get care. My dad just can't do it.

So sorry to hear about how difficult things are for both you and your mother. I can only image the intense fear she experiences in her paranoia.

I'm so sorry to hear this Brenda.  Trying to find the right place for her is so stressful and exhausting- I know.  I hope something opens up soon.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and prayers. I've been out to see her this morning, and they are still waiting on one of the other hospitals. Yesterday, she cried all day, because  she thought that Obama was going to be killed. She was hysterical. She said nobody would listen to her. She thinks a bomb is going to be dropped, and a lot of people are going to die.

My mother has had a very tragic life. She lost two children. At one point, she started crying and said, "Ronnie was killed in that plane crash, and he was such a good kid." That just about did me in. My brother was 13 years old. Having raised two boys. I can tell you that 13 year old boys just love their mothers. That would be a horrible age to loose the child.  I felt her pain and have been depressed ever since. I didn't expect Alzheimers to look like this.

Anyhow, I'm here all by myself dealing with this and probably depressing everyone.
