I just published an article on grammar. I got a message that some of my content was on three other sites. I did look up some phrases, but I hadn't been to any of those three sites. Two were on totally different subjects and one was a dictionary. I didn't use that dictionary and didn't lift the definitions anyway. I can see that it might see some of the same words in a definition but I don't know what brought up the other two. I think one was about a murderer or something...ack.
It just was weird. I haven't seen that before.

That's our automated dupe checker. Sometimes it's wrong. As in your case. Bastard. (Not YOU.)

I'm glad that Wizzley doesn't automatically have a page shut down if the duplicate checker finds possible duplicate content, as has happened on another site I write on. That has caused a lot of heartache for people who have good original content but the dupe checker says otherwise.
Does the Wizzley staff check pages that get flagged by the duplicate checker?

Me TOO. I had an article on another site locked when it was one of the very first I had ever written. It was humiliating and horrifying. I couldn't even get an answer from anyone as to why. Eventually it was unlocked.
I like it here better.

Yes! There are many common phrases and expressions in language that everybody uses. The checkers will pick them up as plagiarism.

Karen - the automated dupe checker is more of a tool for authors, to double-check on previously-published content. That's why we allow you to publish anyway, if there's no reason for concerns.
We manually check the first 5 articles of every single author, and then continue with spot checks on their follow-up content. Most "100% dupe artists" won't publish more than 1 or 2 articles, anyway. We catch them, lock their content, and then delete their accounts.
Trusted authors like you, Lana, and Brenda need not worry about a thing.
