Help me, please!

A question about viglink.

To my delight I've noticed that the past week I've been receiving viglink clicks and being paid per click, which is great. But, I've also learned that I've managed to sell a $182.50 silver Tiffany&co chain. The only thing is, that according to the viglink dashboard it has come, like the clicks, though one affiliate page which is not related to jewelry. Now I know that this can happen, but on another jewelry page I have I do seem to remember linking to some tiffany &co jewelry. (Sorry this is so long winded) The dashboard is not showing any sales commission, just payments per click which I can understand. But if I'm right, and the click happened through my jewelry page, is it likely that I'll eventually see commission in this tab, does it take a while for commission to show??

It could have happened during the Wizzley share of clicks?

I hadn't thought about that, LB. But, does the parent's site show the host's sale? Also, at the moment it's suggesting that it came through an unrelated page, which it might have, but I think it may have come through my jewelry page which I'm sure I linked to some Tiffany & co jewelry. Either way, when I first saw that I was getting paid per click I was pleased, so you cant have it always. :)

I'm not too sure about it :) Will have to let someone else answer it. Haven't used Viglink at all yet.

You should, LB. I added the links thinking that I'd probably never earn anything from them, but during the past 7 days I've earned $2.10. And if i receive any commission for that sale even more. The links took me a couple of minutes, they're there for the future. It's another opp to monetise.

Oh wow, that's really good considering that the pages are relatively new :) I'm setting up a website atm and have plans to use them there for everything other than amazon links.

I didn't realize we got a commission on the items sold. I thought we were only paid per click.

I think it depends on the merchant, Brenda. At least that's what I'v read. Some merchants pay per click whilst others pay per sale.

Brenda, each affiliate program pays them differently. If you sell an amazon product via viglink you'd get a commission  however for ebay you'd get a commission based on clicks. So, it all depends on the service.

Thanks Lisa :)

Very few merchants pay for both clicks and then give commissions. So if you received a pay per click, that's it. If it was ebay, that's the way it works. But a sale will increase your click value. If you have clicks but no sales on ebay, eventually they will pay nothing for the click, because you aren't sending them good quality traffic.

You really need to read the TOS for every merchant. They will explain their payment system. Viglink is really just the accounting mechanism, not the merchant. So if you promote six different merchants on one page, you could have six different payment structures.

Thanks Digby, it was no doubt wishful thinking on my behalf. But I'm pretty pleased with what I've earned in the last seven days from them anyway. The pages are only days old so they don't receive much traffic yet. I'll have to find out more about the other merchants.
