A Silly Viglink Question

Hey All,

I know there are tons of posts on Viglink, and great articles, too! Thanks to this, I'm all good to go (finally).

But PLEASE spare me digging through everything for this one question. I'm sure it is a "duh" moment, but I'm missing the big picture.

As an example, I did an article on Magic 8 Ball. Now I KNOW it is available for sale in places like Walmart, etc. Because Viglink is such a "smarty pants" why would I have to link to it at Walmart and put it in a text module. I have Viglink set up to put links in automatically. Wouldn't Viglink spare me the trouble of doing it myself, for something that is targeted like this?

I understand having control over what we write...and I'm not saying I wouldn't do it myself, but I don't get it...where is the line drawn between ME putting in a Walmart link to Magic 8 Ball and Viglink doing so?

Thanks! And I am sorry if it has been brought up in the plethora of Viglink posts....Robin

VigLink's main job is to affiliate your links, not to find and create your links. However, if you have link insertion enabled, they might just do the latter, too. You can easily test it by writing, let's say, "you'll find fabulous Magic 8 Balls at Walmart", and then waiting until VL picks it up. They may link to walmart.com, or to a category/product page...I dunno.

The point is: VL needs to know what exactly you want to sell. Otherwise, they'll just link to the merchant's home page.

Since you're already on the product page when researching your merchandise, the easiest way is to copy the URL and create a hyperlink with your desired term, e.g. "Magic 8 Ball from Walmart". That way, you know you'll link to the correct page, for sure.

Thanks...

I was really hoping Viglink had super powers, so I could take a little nap!! Shucks.

Maybe the Magic 8 ball will link to your article on its own since it is magic. Tongue out
