Help me, please!

another analytics question

I wish I could understand this stuff more easily.

I understand basically how chitika works. I suppose I understand how I'm supposed to be making money. What I don't understand is this:

On the analytics page on wizzley, there is only Amazon listed and no information about our other affiliated product sales. They list polls and downloads - does that mean that people who participate in polls contribute to the monetary value of our articles? And, as someone asked in November in the forum, there is still no listing for clicks on our other affiliate ads?

On my chitika account, I am showing no earnings whatsoever. I registered with chitika in December. There are over 200 impressions for Jan-Feb but no clicks listed. Does that mean that of these 200 page views nobody clicked on an ad? In that case, I have no revenue whatsoever from wizzley, as opposed to squidoo where even if I do not have clicks, I share in the ad revenue according to the tier system. Is this true?

Does this mean that even if I publish 50 articles, if nobody actually clicks an ad on my page, and nobody buys what I have to offer, I will have absolutely no income from those 50 articles?  Am I understanding correctly?

Thanks, Sheri

Hi Sheri,

You can now get some data on outbound clicks via the Viglink dashboard which gives you a bit of extra data.

Can you have 200 page views and no ad clicks? Certainly. Especially if a lot of your visitors are Wizzley writers who don't click ads.

It's true on Squidoo that you can get subsidized by other people and that doesn't happen on Wizzley. You have to earn the money yourself here. So yes it's possible to not earn any money.

If making money is your goal then you need to make commercially viable content. Either high traffic which leads to ad clicks or product focused which leads to sales. (Ideally both!) There are lots of Wizzley articles on these topics.

To see your exact stats, we recommend using Google Analytics and the stat pages of your individual affiliate accounts. Wizzley's internal stats only offer a rough overview.

Even on Squidoo you may find it difficult getting into paying tiers without significant traffic and click-outs.

As Terri said, it's not enough to write good (or even great) articles. If you want to earn income, you must learn how to craft pages that attract a lot of traffic, and then monetize them, accordingly.

Polls and downloads do not directly contribute to the monetary value of your articles. Although, lots of on-page activity may help you rise to the front pages of Wizzley's article lists, which in turn gives you more exposure, more traffic, more potential click-throughs.

Could I tag a related question onto the end here please?

When we're looking at the Amazon analytics, how should we read the colour scheme?  Things turn red, black or green according to no pattern that I've been able to discover simply by watching it happen.

If this isn't as related as I think it is, let me know and I'll start another thread.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for asking, Sheri.  I'm learning as well from the responses. <3

green = nice amount of click-throughs

black = poor click-through activities

red = no click-throughs
