I must be thick.
I am trying to set up some affiliates on the site and thought I'd start with Amazon but I just cannot see where I add the http code into my website. In other words, where is my website? It can't mean the URL at the top of the page, and when I tried adding it to the website on the Settings page it rejected it.
I feel really stupid, but can anyone help me please.

Hi Mari
You need to only add the code that you see in Amazon when you're logged into the Associates area. It ends -20 (as in username-20). You can only use Amazon.com for that, not the co.uk site, although there are lots of pleas to allow us UK bods to have our own site so that we can write for the UK market and benefit from UK clicks.
So, log into Amazon.com Associates and look to the top left of the left hand column, where it says 'signed in as'. Type that ID into the Amazon Affiliates box on the settings page on Wizzley and that should do it.
Now I'm no techy, neither famed for my teaching skills, so if someone else wants to chip in, that's probably a good idea.
Described by one of my clients as 'a literary grammarian', writing, researching and reading are requirements for sanity, at least this side of the keyboard.

Hi Word Chazer and anyone else who's logged in here,
Big sigh and gulps. Just had this from Amazon and don't know how to re-act. I've just got 12 pages up but i understood that five was OK to allow one to start affiliting. Am I doing something wrong?
Hello,
Ive completed our review of your application to become an Amazon Associate, which included a visit to the web page where you planned to advertise for Amazon.com.
Our Amazon.com Associates Program is not set up to just Advertise Amazon.com links within websites, or make mini Amazon websites. There needs to be a beneficial reason to why a customer would seek out your site, review the topic or content of your site, and click over to Amazon.com. We suggest making a unique site with original content.
We have decided that your site may not present a mutually beneficial business opportunity. We have therefore decided not to approve your application to become an Amazon Associate at this time.
Thank you for your interest in Amazon.com Associates

Hi Mari
When JoHarrington is back from her Glasto weekend, you should talk to her. She has Chitika ads on her pages, having also been refused Amazon affiliation.
I'm also beginning to wonder, as I haven't had any hits at all because I write for the UK market. I'd rather have something worthwhile, you know, rather than writing about UK events and showing US ads.
Amazon.com doesn't work for me. Jo tells me Chitika works for her. I think we should investigate and quiz her when she gets back. I am fed up of selling my soul to corporate claptrap and both Google and Amazon's actions tell me that the UK IS NOT WELCOME ONLINE AND SHOULD JUST BECOME THE 50-ODDTH STATE OF THE USA ALREADY. Well, I for one am going down fighting. I am a European, not an honorary American, even if I have to spell that way at times.
What do you reckon? Chitika ads, following Jo's lead, and possible income, or Amazon global domination and nothing?

I'm with you on that, so let's go for Chitika. I had already decided to sign up with them after having perused Jo's chapter in her book HTWFW but I must have missed her reference to Amazon as I thought she only preferred it to Google. As Google acts in such an arrogant fashion if it thinks you have done something wrong, I don't want to fall on its wrong side.
Next step then is to try and sign up for Chitika, I'll keep you informed.
Many thanks.

And furthermore, let's go down with a banner saying "Who needs 'em?" and prove we can do well with Chitika.

I simply don't understand all this.
I've got an Adsense account and I've put a number on Wizzley settings. My content is being read but there are no numbers showing up on the Adsense thing. Presumably something is wrong somewhere but I haven't a clue what it is.
If I decide to go for Chikita ads instead how do I change things?
Help ?

HI Frances,
If you have a Chitika account just remove your Adsense ID from the settings and enter you Chitika ID in the correct spot. There are two places labeled Chitika in the settings. I initially put my information in the wrong spot, and nothing happened. Good luck.
