How to work with Amazon

I confess to being a total idiot when it comes to working how how to utilize my Amazon affiliation.  Can someone please help me.  From what I can understand, I have to upload an image of a book, picture, camera or whatever from the Amazon site and insert this in my page.   But how do I do that.  I don't see a number to insert into the strap line when I click the Amazon button on the page.

Any help you can give will be much appreciated, even if it's just to tell me where to go to read about it as I can't find it on the Help pages.

You use the Amazon module and there you either insert the ISBN or ASIN number, or use the search function with some keywords.

The ISBN and ASIN numbers are given on the product pages on Amazon. Just scroll until you can find them under Product Details. For example:

Also, don't forget you have to be an Amazon Affiliate to get paid if anyone buys a product.  Scroll down to the bottom of any page on Amazon until you see four columns of links.  One column will say "Make Money with Us" and under than column you'll see "Become an Affiliate."

Once you are an affiliate, you must put your affiliate ID on Wizzley.  Click on your user name at the top of any page on Wizzley, then click on "settings."  Scroll toward the bottom and that's where you can put affiliate IDs.

One last hint:  after your page has been online for a while (perhaps three to six months), go back through your Amazon modules and check your products.  Sometimes they are no longer available, or you might find something better.

Mrinalini - When I log onto Amazon.com, i'm taken to the U.S. site since that's where I live.  You'll have to log onto Amazon and see if there's an Affiliate program in your country.

If so, sign up for it and make sure you add your affiliate ID in the settings of your Wizzley profile.  If it's not there, Amazon won't be able to pay you.

If the Amazon affiliate program is not available in your county, you may want to try Viglink (there's a lot of information on this program on Wizzley), or see if you can sign up for Google Adsense.  Again, don't forget to add your program IDs to Wizzley or you won't get paid.

Getting back to Amazon, if you're an Associate, you can add Amazon products to any new or any existing pages - just use the Amazon module.  Just remember that when you edit an existing page, you're editing in real time, so make sure you have the module products the way you want them before you click on "save."  If you're working on a new page, then nothing goes live until you click on "publish."  People have to BUY a product, not just click on a link.  Amazon commissions are not high, but you'll get paid for everything someone buys even if it's not the product you promoted (as long as they went through your link).

As soon as you have your affiliate ID on Wizzley, you can add Amazon products using the Amazon module and your ID is automatically inserted. You don't have to wait until you create a certain number of pages.

Thanks Mira and burntchestnut.  I've finally cracked it but it was a tough one.  Like all things to do with computers, once you find the way to solve a problem you could kick yourself as it really is simple.  I've only been into two articles so far to put some products on there but it's going to take a bit of time to show all that i want.  It does mean that I can branch out into other types of articles now that I can actually advertise something to help fill up the pages.

Thanks again to you both.
