Well, I finally got through the process of being recognized and then they rejected me on account of unacceptable content. I can only suppose that they saw the word "sex" come up on my *** abuse articles. If this will negatively affect wizzley, I will have to take those articles off. I cannot not use the *** word for this topic.
I posted onto their forum and I hope someone on adsense will see it, but is there any other way to get them to be a bit more thorough in their verification process? There are lots of people writing about *** trauma, healthy ***ual relationships, etc. If they reject us all, they are rejecting important and helpful material.
If my even posting this question here and using the word only once already causes problems for wizzley, then . . . ?

It is a business that depends on advertisers. Most companies do not want to see their ads displayed on pages with content that is not deemed "family friendly", or safe for all eye balls. This doesn't mean the topic is not important or useful, just that it is not suitable as an advertising medium.
If we want to to earn advertising revenue from our writings we just have to play by their rules. Sensitive content would probably fare better on a dedicated site that does not rely on advertiser approval.

I'm sorry to hear that Sheri.
Have you tried Chitika instead? Even if they do turn you down (and I'm not saying that they will), you'll get a human being telling you why and what you can do to sort it out.

I use Chitika on some of my sites its a good option to have. I'm really excited they offer it here and the ALLPosters is a great way to generate money while getting images to your pages.
Finally I make just as much money from Amazon as I do Adsense most of the time.
Don't fret concentrate on the other options you have.

Sheri I'm not at all sure how I would monetize your topics. Even if Chitika approves you, what would their ads contain that would interest your readership? Not every topic lends itself to this revenue model. Perhaps they would buy books from Amazon or your own e-book if you wrote one. But I do think that you have to be careful when you place ads on this type of website. Could you become a public speaker or advocate and use your writings to get you gigs?
