Multiple Sites Copying Wizzley Content - Everyone Should Check

I was slightly horrified on a routine inspection of my content today to discover that one page I had was copied over and over again on a ton of different sites.

After finding this one example, I starting looking at other pages in my collection. What I am finding is that practically every article I have written from 2012 -2013 has been plagiarized over and over and over again. Some common sites that keep turning up on every search are:

floatersintheeyesite com
getridoffloaters com
vitiligoisnomore com
howtogrowtallerguide org
psoriasiscream com
cheapbabywalker org
bathtubsforbabies com
grow-taller-fast com
topchoicebabystrollers com

I haven't linked to these because a) I don't want to give them a backlink and b) they could be full of malware.

However I'm really concerned at the extent to which this appears to have happened to my earlier content and am now wondering if that is why pages that used to do well with traffic no longer are because of these awful sites.

I urge everyone who has content here, especially from 2011, 2012, 2013, to check random sentences from their articles in between quotation marks in Google to see what comes up.

I'm not sure how to tackle this yet (or if Wizzley will be able to do something if the scale is as bad as I think it might be) but I thought I'd better share this because it can't be good all round.

No, no idea yet :( I was really unhappy to find this. It's really extensive and I don't know how to tackle all these sites at once.

I'm going to be offline most of this weekend too so I can't do anything until Monday at the earliest.

I'm concerned if these have plagiarized a rather huge amount of content from multiple authors on this site.

I checked out a few of the sites, and couldn't find my articles (or partial ones) anywhere on them.  Also, no contact information - of course!

I came across this in my bookmarks that may help: http://www.infobarrel.com/Dealing_with_Copied_Content  .

I'll try to look into this more this weekend.  But if anyone has any suggestions, I'll be happy to hear them!

I am afraid to do a check.

I think Google will not rob traffic from the original site.

CountrySunshine - thanks for this link.  It's got good information. http://www.infobarrel.com/Dealing_with_Copied_Content

I think those who have their content stolen should make a few modifications on each page and then promote the heck out of each article (tweet, pin, google+, ping, etc.), although maybe not all in one day.  This will keep your information fresh and since your article was posted first and will be older than the copycats, you may push them down in the searches so no one finds their site.

Marie, I am finding the exact same thing with my pages here at Wizzley.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention, although I don't know much about what to do now.

It appears they take the text from the first paragraph - all or part as it shows up first under their site name.

This is so discouraging. I don't really have time to file all of the requests to take down content. I hope Google understand the theivery and adjusts them in the SERPs.

Google should recognize the scraped content and banish it from the front pages in search results. If, however, one of these duplicates outranks your original article, you could consider taking action as outlined in the infobarrel article.

In general, I wouldn't worry too much about scrapers. They've been around since the beginning, and they're a vanishing breed.

Thanks chefkeem that's just what I needed to hear. I'd rather spend my time writing content than doing battle.
