Pinterest Now Banning Affiliate Links

I was wondering how this would affect us. I know that links to our Wizzles don't contain affiliate links. But there certainly are affiliate links on the Wizzles themselves. I don't know how deep they are going. Just another thing to ponder.

Digby, how deep can this go? Yikes. There are so many pins linking to blogs and websites with affiliate links. I don't see how they could touch any links here.

It's amazing what software can track these days. I guess we'll just have to see.

From my understanding, people are simply posting a product image with Amazon affiliate link to it, as one example.  It could be a Zazzle product with the affiliate  link to that product.  This is what they seem to be going after.

I usually post my zazzle product or someone else's product on pinterest which has my affiliate id included. So does it mean i cannot do so anymore?

There is a ton of information online, but can't find a thing from Pinterest itself.

Here is one from Wall Street Journal about Pinterest removing affiliate links.

It looks like they are going to hit all of us.  There is also some news about PInterest doing something with a Buy Now button which sounds like they are going to do affiliate marketing themselves using this buy button.

I haven't been using Pinterest that aggressively. I'm not even sure that it buys us much in the eyes of he search interest, since it's become such a place for promoters. However, it is frustrating to see channel closing little by little.

There is another site, which is similar to Pinterest. However, you can create web pages, add Amazon Astores to it.  It even has a text box.  chitika ads are permitted.

Anybody interested in using Pinterest to the max, as well as learning about how to work with these changes, check out Erica Stones' fantastic materials. She's also an expert on Amazon sales. At least sign up for her very informative email newsletter. Today she discussed those Pinterest changes. Once you've signed up you can go back in her email archive and read everything. (No, I won't get any commission if you sign up. I bought her Pinterest program last year, and I think she's a very generous and knowledgeable teacher.)

Here's the link to her Pinterest ebook ($13):

Thanks Chefkeem for the information.

I only use Pinterest to promote Wizzley articles of mine and my fellow Wizzley writers. Hope this is okay with the Pinterest.

Writer Artist  It is different for sure     From what I was told, they are also working on a way for people to actually create websites with SEO capabilities such as description, meta keywords, etc like we have on blogspot, Weebly, etc.

Hi Chefkeem -- could you post a link that tells us where to sign up for Erica Stone's newsletter?   I'm not finding that online.

I'm just starting to get more serious about using Pinterest to promote my pages.  It'll be interesting to see how their new policies will affect us.

Thanks!  Will request her newsletter and will take a look at her products.  I see that she is "Sojourn".  Is she the same Sojourn that was on Squidoo?

Yes, that's the one. I just wrote her with an invitation to contribute to this thread.
