Hi! I viewed my pages today and I noticed there's a new popup Chitika ad in the lower-right corner.
I would like to disable this ad. Popup ads violate Google's guidelines and I also think they violate the general ethic and spirit of the web. This is a Javascript popup, inside a window, so it doesn't technically violate Google's rules, but I still think that because it looks like a window, it seems like one of those technicalities, a way to get around the rules.
I'd rather earn less money from my pages, and not see popup ads.
Is there a way for me to disable or opt-out of this sort of ad? I can't seem to find any setting about this. Thanks!

I noticed that one too on some occasions, and didn't like it either.

I never signed up for Chitka ads because I hate the ads they offer. All of them are just the search term... I also hate that they move along the page if you highlight some text on the page.
If I could I would remove all these ads from my pages, pop-up or not.

Every user can disable or enable the following:
- Chitika Links (Text Links)
- Chitika Hover (Pop-up)
- Chitika Highlight (Pop-up when a reader highlights keywords or text passages)
Log into your Chikita member account; in the blue tool bar on top click on Chitika Apps; select 'enable' or 'disable'.

Ok this is a silly question, but where's the Chitka Apps again? I checked settings and there's just registration nothing else. Checked all the other options from the top bar, there wasn't anything related to ads.
Where's the blue toolbar again? or do you mean your chitka account?

Thanks for asking, Brandon. I edited to clarify - Chitika account.

Haha, the moment I posted I edited as I realized, how could you'll have those options. Ok, so there's no way to turn them off completely then. That's sad.

Why "sad"? They do make money, and without monetization we couldn't sustain our site. If you don't like their ads, you can choose to not show them for your half of the impressions by simply not participating in Chitika.

That's the reason I don't have a chitka account. Adsense all the way

i don't have chitika on my account, but I get the pop up chitikas so I guess I get them when I go to someone's page who is signed up for it.
Oh well, not a bit deal - I just "x" them.

I assume that Wizzley does not opt out of the pop-ups, correct? Everytime I view a page a Chitika ad crosses the screen. So, even if the user opts out it won't get rid of them unless Wizzley opts out, too. Does Wizzley have any plans to opt out of the pop-up ads? They really do not make our pages look so great.

We sure hope to have Adsense back, soon. Meanwhile, remember the situation at Squidoo, when they first started with those text links? At first, nobody wanted them. Then, when they made money, everybody wanted them.
Personally, I don't like those pop-ins either. Strangely enough, people click on them. I'd say, let's try them out for a few days and see what happens.

I have text link ads disabled on all my lenses. I know I lose money, but I really hate them.

The pop up adds are so common place anymore given youtube, smart phone and tablet use. I wouldn't worry about it being a bother to traffic as everyone's familiar with it.
