Simon, on Pixabay when I type in a search, I'm getting the Shutterstock paid site 99% of the time. We used to be able to click on illustrations or photographs. Why not anymore? I use a lot of illustrations and prefer not to wade through reams of photographs to find them.

Only the upper 1 or 2 rows are Shutterstock images. There's a thin separation line, and underneath are the free pics. Achim "Chef Keem" Thiemermann is the co-founder of a pretty cool new platform called...um...er...oh, yeah - Wizzley.com.

I noticed this too the other day, but it did confuse me at first.

It happened to me, too! I actually said, "aww...I think pixabay pics are all ones you have to pay for now" (not that they aren't worth it!!). The site is absolutely awesome... I know people don't create sites with the rver in mind (there's some joke there...I just know it), but I like to work in the back bedroom, with laptop/lap tray. Know what rvs have at the head of the bed? A gigantic rear window! Even with curtain closed, that darn glare can mess me up..and it has at other times, too. So that is why it looked like they were all Shutterstock now...because there was no evidence of those faint lines from the glare on my screen! Again...thanks for the site - Jim and I both love it/use it in our online work. In 2009 we sold everything and hit the road! Follow us on our blog at Cheap RV Living

I had the same issue and quickly left thinking hummm maybe free no more, thanks for the heads up as I now understand to be a bit more observant and scroll down.... Katie McMurray

Sorry about that! It's the first row of images only. Shutterstock made us a three months offer that we couldn't decline. One month is over, two more to go - after that, the ads will be at the bottom again. We promise to use the additional revenue to further improve Pixabay :-) |

I have to admit that I stopped using Pixabay after this change. |

I use pixabay on an almost daily basis, and it's as easy as pie to start looking at the second row instead of the first one. I don't get it. Why is this a problem? Achim "Chef Keem" Thiemermann is the co-founder of a pretty cool new platform called...um...er...oh, yeah - Wizzley.com.

chefkeem: 01/10/2013 - 09:37 AM It didn't show the second row on my screen when I went there last. I was used to shutterstock being on the bottom so I assumed that there weren't any free ones and left.
I'll be sure to scroll down next time. Lana or LIl aka Ragtimelil RagtimeLil's Store on Weebly

When I went to Pixabay and put in a subject, I've only seen the Shutterstock photos, not anything else. So perhaps there wasn't anything, or I just didn't see it on my laptop screen. But I just moved on and got used to using another site. I'll give it another look. |

Hmm, interesting point: For searches Pixabay doens't have any images to offer, yet, we still show relevant Shutterstock images. Below that, there's the message: "No results". However, we see, that's a huge booboo. I'll remove the Shutterstock ads for this case immediately. What do you think: should we break our deal with Shutterstock and move the images to bottom right now, instead of in two months? If we don't break the deal now, we have the financial means to attract more images on topics that are currently still almost vacant ... Your satisfaction with Pixabay is important to us! So let us know your thoughts, please :-) |
