Spammers??

Hi

Is there anything we can do to stop spammers hitting our comments section? I'm getting requests from spammers who have toy stores on a regular basis. I have my settings so I approve all comments but it's such a time waster. I also feel it goes against what we're all trying to create here having people come in to advertise and not actually contribute in any way to providing knowledge to others.

Any ideas or tips?

We have a spam filter for people who post multiple, identical (or not) comments at the same time. Those accounts are automatically deleted.

For individual spam posts, we have the moderation button.

Unfortunately, we can't recognize every single comment for its value to the page. There's no other way than simply deleting them bastards.

Ahhh that might explain the strange post timing patterns the ones getting through the spam net are using.
