StumbleUpon

I use StumbleUpon to get the word out about my articles. It's usually pretty good.

But why does it pick up a photo that's not even on my article, but is some completely unrelated picture on the sidebar on the same page?

So I have THAT wedding photo of Kate and Wills on my StumbleUpon link to my article about the National Museum of Computing...

The link is correct: The National Museum of Computing but see that picture on the Barbie Dolls article? THAT's on my article on the StumbleUpon link. Why?

Any ideas?

I noticed it tends to pick a photo that's high up on the page. If there isn't one, it will pick the first one from the sidebar.

The whole thing makes sense. The automatic bot wants a photo that's a good fit to the article. The first photo often does the job, whereas photos lower down the page might be ads, etc.

But there is one, a Wikimedia image of the logo which is in the public domain.

Very odd. Have raised a ticket with the SU helpdesk and hopefully I'll have a response within a few days.

I imagine they have a minimum size for the photos. But don't mind me. Let us know what they say :)

I expect it'll be something like that, Mira.

In the meantime, Wills and Kate continue to 'advertise' TNMOC. I'm sure they and TNMOC's trustee board would both be thrilled. Tongue Out
