Saying hello once again after an extended absence

Hi there,

As with all good intentions mine fell off the rail last year when my mom, who is almost 98 (April), developed a recurring infection toward the end of January and continued through the summer before we finally got the right antibiotics to kill it off completely. Unfortunately when it would slam into high gear, she'd suddenly be delirious and it would last for days.

That really messed me up as far as writing was concerned. Couldn't keep those plates spinning.

But I found my way back today and even created a new page so all is good. Luckily I was able to quickly update my paltry sum o f pages so that the intro text in the old formats now wrap around the ads.

I even discovered, thank to Wizzley, that I had never verified the bank account with Google Adsense. Sigh. I ended up calling the bank to find out how many pennies they deposited back in the fall of 2011 so hopefully that is taken care of. (Although that cautionary warning about clicking on an ad is still showing in my Adsense setting for some reason.)

Anyway, just wanted to say hello again. I found my way here via the Squidoo vale of tears a while back. I still do Squidoo and have a couple of blogs that I keep up, too.

You'll find me writing about writing, reading, books, dogs, backyard fun, Catholic stuff (new blog), and whatever strikes my fancy that I can string into a line of pages, lenses, and what have you.

I'll try and make a visit to everyone to see what you're up to. It might take a bit but I'm pretty dedicated when it comes to stuff like that.

ciao, Vikk

Welcome back to Wizzley, Vikk!   And it's good to hear that your mother is doing better now.  :)

Welcome back Vikk. I've been going through the same chaos with my 90 year old mother this last year. She is in a nursing home now, but I find that doesn't excuse me from being a caregiver. I have to go there frequently to make sure she's getting all of her needs taken care of. I know what you're going through.

Hi Vikk!

I had missed you! (an old RocketMom friend)

I'm glad your mother is doing better. We lost my mother-in-law at 93 last year, so I, too, know how challenging it can be. She was living with my sister-in-law, but occasionally we would stay with her and give my husband's sister some respite.

To anyone who doesn't know her, Vikk's articles are definitely worth a read.

Wow, thank you for all the welcome-backs. I was really surprised when I checked and saw how long it had been since my last visit. :) Thanks for the visits to my page, too.

Brenda, you bet that caregiver phase never ends. It just changes stripes. So far we've done fairly well and my mom is able to be home although pretty much confined to her bed with her two cats. (Me and the dogs, all six of them, clutter up the rest of the place.)

Shielamarie, thank you so much for your kind words and for visiting my latest page. So sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to help your sister-in-law. It is hard if you don't have much of a support system and, unfortunately that's where I fall. I'm an only child and my mom's relatives have all passed and my dad. But we manage.
