I am just making sure that we can use affiliate links from CJ, Linkshare, etc.  Due to my state's tax law I can not be an Amazon Affiliate.

Just wanted to ask so I don't start on the wrong foot here.

Yes, you may use html codes from CJ, Shareasale, Linkshare, etc..

I'm confused because the system just gave me a message that banner ads from affiliate links were not allowed.  So please advise if Wizzely policies have changed.  Thank you.

No, banners are not allowed - just as the message says.

Simon and chefkeem, where could we put these HTML links? Within the body of the text? Thanks for letting us use them.

Why doesn't the message show up consistently?  I actually saw another article written by someone else with a CJ banner ad.  It's what gave me the idea that it was permissible.

So instead of bickering about "special treatment", is there a process for requesting MANUAL REVIEW of your articles?  That way I can have some confidence that my articles are meeting the publishing requirements.

Treathyl - we don't allow pure banner advertisement anymore. Your article: http://wizzley.com/better-homes-and-gardens-entertaining-with-ease/ does not look very appealing with all those banners. People want interesting and useful information based on personal experience, not another webpage full of blinking ads.

Our experience shows that fewer ads sell more. If you write a great in-depth story about 1 product, and then place 1 relevant ad on your page ... that's when you get clicks and sales.

HTML codes can be placed in a text module through the HTML window (first button on the left of the editor's tool bar).

Also, our own Wizzley referral banner should NOT be placed on our Wizzley pages but rather on blogs or other websites. It's usually irrelevant to our content (except on articles about online writing) and does NOT bring any referrals.

Always, always (always) think about user experience: What are they looking for? What will make them return to read our new articles? How can we present our info in the most efficient and pleasant way?

Readers are NOT interested in our obvious self-serving schemes, i.e. referral stuff. They are only interested in THEIR benefits, whatever they may be.

OK.  Gotcha!  So some other folks doing that too!  I should just stop being a copy cat, huh? Wink  I'm beginning now to understand why Jo Harrington likes this community so much.  Genuine honest feedback!!  Like finding a small diamond in a haystack!

It's good to have constructive criticism and I don't think most writers mind this as long as it's done with kindness and charity. I'm a big fan of your writing Threathyl.

I know, Treathyl. The banner warning is fairly new, and we need to clean up some of the existing pages.

No problem!  I totally get why y'all are making the changes.  The site looks much more professional and will likely attract more serious writers to publish here.  ( We can hope! )

What I like is after you add your text, how easy it is to use the modules to sort or work them around your words so everything looks pretty!!  I'm not dissing the other sites but I have to say, I rather like the simplistic style.

It does get all complicated and jumbled up looking when you start trying to fit in banner ads and stuff.  This has been a great conversation. I'm glad that error message popped up!  I was moving right along adding affiliate banners wherever I could stick them.

I've been at my articles all day and 'mI loving the results of the editing process based on the comments here.

I got no complaints!  For real.  I'm glad somebody is telling me when my stuff looks like crap!!  That second pair of eyes works wonders!  Smile
