Awards or Medals?

I admit it, I'm shallow. I like shiny objects, too.

Any chance we'll be getting some type of award badges on our profile pages at any time in the future? :D (forum posts, number of articles, traffic etc.)

I actually hope that this isn't in the works. I like the quiet and calm mature nature of this site, where writers focus on the writing. It's been fun to focus on that and gradually getto know other Wizzlers as I read their wizzles.

The only thing of this nature is our new "Editor's Choice" star. It will place those articles into the front page widget under "Editor's Choice", so that new visitors will see some of the best, right away.

Once you have earned three stars, you'll get one star in your profile pic.

We're no big fans of shiny without tangible value. We'd rather spend our time searching for new income possibilities for our authors and ourselves. Believe me, we're looking at a lot of stuff.

It ain't easy, but we keep on diggin'.   Smile

Giving the props to good writing sounds like a winning strategy.

Thank you!    Much as the monsters are cute elsewhere, I don't see the need!

To me the best award is good earnings.

I'm liking the editor's star. But definitely would not want lots of shiny things cluttering the place up.

It is good to have goals to work towards. It does help with motivation and pulls me back to Wizzley rather than writing elsewhere. The increased revenue share at 50 and 100 articles does that and we have the challenges.

I like awards and accolandes. Its cool to try other things to earn them. The main goal of them is to show people are active or to make them be active.

Dont get me wrong...I know more then half of the people here are Squidoo lovers and im happy you are. I completely hate whatever they call that "Quest" system and I hate that they limit the amount you can write at start or something? And I mostly hate the fact they pay you, not the affilates.(and wtf is with having to unlock capsules and tools?...)

Something like some of the Hubpages accolandes might be nice though. Good Commenting, active in the forums, overall time with site etc. I dont see much wrong with them.

I like Wizzley - extra shiny things or not =)

The last thing I want is Wizzley acting like HubPages right now. I think they've hit the right balance with the Editor's Choice Award for great Wizzles and giving them exposure. For any more motivation, I'll agree with lakeerieartists - it's about the money.

Sorry thranax, I will have to disagree vehemently with you.  I do not like seeing the great commenter accolades on Hubpages.  I would prefer to see nothing and have my earnings return to what they were last year.

I like the new Editor's Choice, but I would prefer that the editorial crew focus on making this site exemplary so that we all earn money, instead of awards.

Well said, Paula.

I'd like to shift some of the responsibility of "making this site exemplary" to our new members. (Our established authors are outstanding!)

I spend hours every morning (and then throughout the day) with nothing but marking "articles" for corrections, or blocking junk pages. I understand this is part of my job, but it keeps me from doing what I'd love to do more of: creating more income for all of us.

God, I hate badly-spun content and fake profiles. Do people think we are stupid?

If someone (without name and authentic profile pic) calims to have several degrees in journalism, marketing, creative writing, and what-have-you...and then delivers pure junk with more misspellings than correct words...

If I see another "How To Make Money On Wizzley" article by someone who hasn't earned one penny, yet...

If I see another "Wizzley Tutorial" by someone who doesn't even understand the correct functions (and then suspects bugs!)...

If I see another article that consists of 50 long-tails plus blah-blah filler text...

If I see another article that's been Google-translated from a foreign language...

...and don't we state clearly that we DON'T allow duplicate content?

Whew...thanks for listening. I feel better now.

Back into the trenches...

Lol. You know Chef, I think your humor is what helped pull me here.

@Paula Yes I agree. I love money, we all love money. We all love giving to charities and recieveing money. Thats why Im here, to Make Money. But why cant we have both a simple tracking award AND money? The awards dont interfere with generating money. Money comes from random people who type things in on google, the accolandes are just like a quick "fun facts" for fellow Wizzers? (Is that what we call other authors here xD?)

I wont argue my point anymore because its just a simple graphic that in the long run is meaningless. The problem with making more money on a site like this is simple but complex at the sametime. Want to offer us more money? Gives us 100% of the ad impressions. See why that focus doesnt work?  Wizzley is a business to make money, if we take all there money we have no Wizzley and if Wizzley takes all our money they have no content. Regardless of what new oppertunites come to Wizzley, the fact will remain we only get 60% of the impression time max.

Ok if the awards are out, I'll settle for an easy way to link with the rel=author tag. :D Seems no other writing site has gotten around to it, so Wizzley can be first. Pleaseeeee?

We got it already, Susannah. Enter your Google+ profile in your personal settings, and then link from your Google+ profile back to your Wizzley author profile page.

We'll talk about this also in our upcoming newsletter.
