Including a Quotable Hook in a Review

Just thought I'd pass this along.  Something I learned writing for other, larger outlets.  The absolute fastest way to get good word of mouth for a product review article (one that you like and are writing a positive review of) is to include an easily quotable "hook" statement that the product manufacturer will want to link to and repeat.

Manufacturers are drawn to little blurbs they can put on their websites and packaging like ants to sugar.  This is a huge driver of traffic when you have a link on a large manufacturer's site to your review.  Not just to the review article but to your other articles.  For example, I just posted a review yesterday of Photo Mechanic 5.  It is an organization software aimed at professional photographers but very useful for anyone who shoots a LOT.  I love the software so I made sure to use several quotable phrases in the review.

I sent the link the the PR company for Camera Bits (the software publisher) who had asked me to take a look at the software originally.  Camera Bits and Photo Mechanic are HEAVILY pushing the quotes on their Twitter feed here in the last couple hours.  So far over 200 hits to the review from that source today.

Two of the quotes they are really loving are "All Lanes Open, No Waiting: The best thing for me about Photo Mechanic is the speed" and "Photo Mechanic 5 is probably the only program in existence with a hope of organizing my photos."  Both true statements (I am horribly unorganized in my photography as are many pro photogs).

Now, because the software isn't available on Amazon and they let me offer a discount code, I'm not expecting many (if any) advertising clicks on that review.  However, I made sure to include other related articles of mine in the sidebar and those are showing extra ad clicks today already because people are reading the review and then seeing what else I've written.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth on getting companies to help spread the word about your positive reviews.

You don't see traffic tips like that on the 'Guru' articles that purport to tell you everything you need to know about getting traffic (but really just regurgitates that which others have spouted).

How about a new thread (top of the list): Ways to get traffic (that you have not read about elsewhere) - Chef, Simon, Nightowl - what do you think?

It would assist everyone and in the process help Wizzley.

(But remove any spammy, link farm, link exchange, link purchase ideas!!!!!!). Just keep graet ideas like the one here from LizM.

Or just make this thread one that is shown at the top of 'Tricks, etc'.

Supportive and reactive all in one little package - now that's what I love about Wizzley!
