Multiquote feature?

I've been thinking about suggesting this for a while and with the big welcoming thread currently active, I've noticed it more than ever. I feel it would be useful to have a feature that enabled me to quote and reply to multiple posts without having to resort to using "@Paul" or opening the thread in another tab.

Just a thought! :)

And a plus one button, so I can agree with suggestions like this one.

Honestly, I think we often overdo that damn quoting, anyway.

3, 4, 5 times the same picture; long posts duplicated, triplicated, quadruplicated...

What's wrong with a simple "@" and an answer?

I agree - where's the "like" button?

Surprised

I agree quote chains can get out of hand, but from what I've seen most people will just snip the content out if it's too large.

If nothing else it helps the readability of the forums. Yes posts will be duplicated (but that's what the quote feature's for) but if more than a couple of people are replying to the same thread, it becomes confusing as to what people are referring to and I've found it hard to keep track of forum posts because I'm constantly scrolling back through the forums to find the post that's being referred to.

I think that it'd make the forums more readable and just more coherent in general when threads get large.

I'm not sure how to do this, but maybe Simon knows the answer. We can talk about it during our team confy on Thursday.

It's certainly technically feasible as I've seen it implemented on other forums (both +1 buttons and multiquotes). Smile

I think we should refrain from repeating or duplicating content someone has posted simply to reply. The @ or a short optional reference is the best option IMHO

I agree with Katie. Takes up too much space and time is short.
