Suggestion/Issue With Module Save Duality

Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of writing/building my first official Wizzley article and I'm finding a few things frustrating, nothing about the tools but more so about some "precaution" features that aren't there and have lead to me having to reopen a module and redo what I just finished.

1. When I open the image (prob translates to any module) and want to change the source, title, or other individual (to the image) settings, I (figured out) have to hit the save button below that images local settings. The problem is if you hit save (the big save the module button) it doesn't know to save any settings I've entered- I literally have to make sure to remember to hit the save button or all that work is erased and reverted to what "was" there.

Couldn't you add a routine that either:

1. notices you didn't hit save but are trying to save/exit the module, and brings up a pop up window (like window's are you sure?) telling me, you haven't saved your individual settings,  continue? or Cancel and save them

-or-

2. Have the save button that saves and closes the module simply globally save the module and any internal settings you didn't hit save on

One of the other areas that drove me crazy for a while the past two days was the new top section, the same save issue- why doesn't closing/saving the module save all internal settings automatically? I know it's possible, all other sites do this by default (that I've experienced)...

I've written at many of the same sites you mentioned you have and this is what I know.  I read this post and couldn't think of anything other than this, it took me a very short time to adjust to the differences here and now I can't remember any struggles, although I know I had them.  I made the transition easily and now can't imagine why the other sites aren't like Wizzley.

There are advantages to the set up here.  You too will adjust and be thinking, whewwww glad they didn't change a thing.

Just relax and allow yourself to learn and embrace the little nuances that makes Wizzley great. I bet you'll be loving the differences in a very short time.

I think it's more about me being overly energetic right now than it being a big deal- would just be nice to have a global save in modules, just makes sense- but if not, like you said, I'll get used to it- I'd gladly give up a few neuances for all the powerful tools at my disposal here- I'm already there on that one- why aren't other sites like this, it just doesn't make sense- but out with the old and in with the wizzley!

I guess some people learn faster than others ...

I still regularly lose stuff by hitting the module save button instead of the item save button. I am getting better though. 

Have to agree that an edit to the  global save function would be a useful and intuitive change. 

Its not about one platform to another, its a simple usability issue - most people expect things to save when the click save! 

I'll bring it up again in our team-conference today. We've been through this before, but I don't remember the technical issues from back then. I'll update you as soon as I know more, ok?

Over the next few days, Simon will make some adjustments to our modules to make them more user-friendly. Perhaps we can resume this conversation next week.  

Or right now It is a rare occasion, but sometimes, computers actually do what you expect them to - really rare indeed.

Well, here it is, a first solution:

First, reload the page, so that outdated JavaScript files and style sheets are refreshed. Then try saving a "half finished" image ... or edit an already uploaded image and hit the module save button instead of saving the particular image. You should now see a confirm dialog reminding you of unsaved data - with the option to discard changes or to check highlighted fields and hit the appropriate save or cancel button.

The same goes for the other modules, too: recipe, poll, downloads, etc.

Also, we decided to increase the hight of the module window. That way, save/cancel buttons e.g. of already uploaded images are more likely in the visible area.

speedy.com would almost have been our domain name, but it just sounded toooo slow lol wizzzzley

There's still a little bug in there, and Simon will take care of it tomorrow.

But if you do everything right---choose pic file, fill out title filed, click upload, save module---you shouldn't have any problems.

One thing I'm always trying to do is fit more hours into my day- the best way to do that when you work ALL the time is to make things more convenient but more than that it's about consolidation- making things efficient without losing effective.

You'd be surprised how much time you gain by this one feature working globally when your in the process of moving over and reformatting (for wizzley) 1k articles!

I just wanted to voice my deep appreciation, it's a little thing, but it's a big thing- much love wizzley team- and Chefkeem thanks for passing this to the tech team/Simon, you rock as well!

I think I'm going on a mission to bring as many writers over here as possible (I already signed up one who plans to sign up her entire writing team (a group of women who write and work together as a support group for more efficiency/creativity and earning power...

It's nice to be on a site you "want" to bring people to just to show them how cool it is!
