Yep, I too would be grateful to anyone who wanted to point out any errors in my work. None of us is perfect, so (in my opinion) it's nothing to get touchy over.

Thanks all!

May I make a suggestion?

We could call it "WizzPUB" (PUB = Pay U Back).

Meaning: Whenever someone points out a typo or any other mistake on one of our articles, we turn around and examine one of their pages (maybe a second one if the first one is already perfect).

Wouldn't that be the best way to say thank you for your kindness?

(My first thought was calling this action "Pay U Back In Kind", but the acronym may not be suitable for a family-friendly site.)

Hm, that could end up in a bit of revenge mentality, like in you find my mistakes, I will blo..dy well find some mistakes in your articles. Would it be a great hassle for the team to design a little discrete badge that goes close to the comment area and signalizes 'this author is happy to be corrected when it comes to typos ect'? SY

As long as we keep this among the participants of this thread, there shouldn't be any problems. Me thinks that's what this thread was for, no?

Wink You're the best! At least you messaged me! I couldn't find it on my own even when told it was there-- how pathetic.

I think I found a good way to make this easy! In our profile settings http://wizzley.com/accounts/profile/ is a field called 'Page Footer Signature'. There I put a simple text in that reads "I am not a native English speaker, so if you notice a typo or another mistake in my article, please tell me about it in a comment or private message. Thanks!" which now appears magically in the footer of all my articles. Very discrete, at the bottom, below the comments. If we all do this, using a different text perhaps, it would be as easy as scrolling down to the footer of an article when we notice a mistake / typo and we can see if the person is part of this club and wants to know about it or not.

What do you think? Would save time checking this thread, which could be time consuming as it grows longer ...

Oh I fully agree with this, I often times go back through my pages WHILE writing them to make sure I didn't leave something out. It does become a bit tedious though and would be nice if someone would point out certain things from time to time as they notice it.

I'm in! Please send me a PM when you spot my typos and words left out.

I hate it when my work goes to print and I find a mistake after I get the job back.  Thankfully, we can correct our writing after it's published on Wizzley!

(Maybe this thread should be a sticky so we can quickly check to see who is okay with an editor?)

I'm off to add my 'proofread accepted' tag to my 'page footer signature'.

Perhaps this little number could be added by ticking a box in our profile settings = new feature

Does my footer look OK in this?

Oh, it changed retrospectively, on my previous post. I did not expect that (or the Spanish Inquisition).

I think we should keep this whole issue (allow proofreading) on an internal and personal level, just as we're doing it right now.

Put a note in your footer, ask in this thread, communicate with your friends...anything else may lead to unwanted comments from busy-bodies.

Definately- nobody's perfect and auditing your own writing, er proofreading, is often a mistake as we tend to write how we think and sometimes we "think" our words are right (so reading them over and over does nothing but reaffirm and deepen the trance we're in thinking it's perfect)!

I would adore constructive (I highlight constructive) criticism of my articles (afterall your reading it aren't you- double score!). I too demand perfection from my work so tell me if I use there where their was supposed to be, or alot where a lot is the real spelling, and so on! This is the power of community!

I shall do the same.

A couple of common mistakes in your post:

"definately" - definitely

"afterall your reading it" - after all, you're reading it
