Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM) provides you with quick and silent focusing operation by using ultra-sonic vibrations to focus the lens instead of motors. It’s a slick, silent way to keep your subject in focus with minimal manual intervention. But if you do need to switch to manual focus, just grab the focusing ring and twist - you’re granted seamless manual focus override almost instantly.

So you don’t have an FX model, but you’ve got an older DX model camera body? No problem - this lens will retrofit to the DX models - just be aware that because of the reduced sensor size in the DX models, your field of view (FOV) is going to be reduced to approximately 127mm.
