Three Things Tabatha Coffey Can Teach You About Making Money Online
by BGFMedia
Star of the hit show "Tabatha's Salon Takeover", Tabatha Coffey is one of the most successful salon owner in the world, today, we discover what she can teach you about Marketing.
As anyone who’s seen her hit show on Bravo: “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover” knows, Tabatha Coffey is one of the most successful salon owners in the world (she also has a personality that would make Simon Cowell beg for his mommy). On the show, Tabatha visits struggling salons all over the country and spends one week whipping them into shape. Now I know what most of you are thinking: “What does any of this have to do with making money online?”, well dear readers, that’s what we’re about to cover.
Below are three key lessons that Tabatha tries to impart to her salon owner protégés.
Lesson One: You Need To Step Up And Take Ownership
You would be amazed (or, sadly, perhaps you wouldn’t) at how many people get into Internet and Affiliate Marketing expecting someone to build them a million dollar a year business. They seem to think that there is a magic button somewhere that can be pressed, and all of a sudden, you get thousands of hit’s a day, and the Adsense revenue just pours in - Get Real!
It is entirely possible for you to make, not just a living, but a damn good living, online. Even with the downturn in the U.S. economy over the last few years, and with more and more people here in my home state of Florida losing their jobs and homes, my income has continued to increase every year. Is it because I’m an Internet Genius? Pfft, my 9 year old daughter is better with a computer than I am. Is it because I have some ultra “double-secret-probation” trick that I keep hidden away? I wish. The reason is simple… I work my ass off.
You’ve all heard the old phrase: “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”, well folks, that’s Internet Marketing in a nutshell. I can teach you, train you, help you, support you, encourage you, and flat out baby you… but I can’t actually do it for you. So as Tabatha would say: “You need to wake up, get off your ass, and step up and take ownership of your business.
Lesson Two: You Need To Focus On Quality Above All Else
I have a confession to make; I have a degree in marketing. Yes dear readers, that’s right, I actually paid a great deal of money to learn what most of you learned for free. One of the things our professors would tell us over and over again (and over and over and… you get the point) is that: “no matter how well you market an inferior product, you will still have an inferior product”. So how does this translate to our subject? Simple, no matter how well you optimize, promote, or back link a poorly done article or website, it’s still a poorly done article/website.
As Tabatha tells owners all the time: “focus on the basics of doing great hair, and then worry about everything else”. It’s like the old baseball analogy: “two guys race from home plate to first base, they tie. One had perfect form, the other had sloppy form. Who would you choose?”. The answer is, the guy with sloppy form, because once you train him, he’ll beat the one with perfect form every time. It’s the same with Internet Marketing, you need to focus on creating great content that’s valuable to your readers/viewers, then worry about promoting and back linking.
Lesson Three: You Need To Follow Through And Stick With It
At the end of every show, Tabatha gives her final recommendations to the owners and then leaves. She comes back a few weeks/months later, and we get to see how things have been going since she was there. Almost without exception, the businesses that follow through with Tabatha’s recommendations are doing phenomenally better. In most cases, the ones that don’t follow through, are out of business. There has been more than one occasion where she has gone back for a follow up and there was a “Out of Business” or “For Sale” sign on the door.
It’s one thing to know what to do, it’s another entirely to actually do it. If you want to be successful, not only will you need to work on creating a system or business model that works for you, but you’ll actually have to follow through with it and do what needs to be done, in order to make it happen. Everyone has the ability to be great at this, not everyone has the discipline, drive, and determination to see it done. Only you know which category you belong in.
My Final Recommendations…
The biggest recommendation I can make is, take ownership of your business and your future. No one is going to do it for you, so you need to step up and take responsibility for your own success. There are some amazing free resources on the Internet when it comes to making money online, you shouldn’t have to spend a penny. I’ll be posting more pages in the next few days, designed to give you step-by-step lessons on starting your own Internet Marketing business.
So, until next time my friends, have great days!

BrandGoFL, Thank you for the practical information. In particular, it's interesting in Lesson Two about how one can improve on a sloppy form that achieves what perfect form does.
Very good advice and the stuff that really pays off. I love watching tabatha when I get the chance, she's so matter of fact!
Darn! You mean I have to work at it? lol Great article and so true. I'm writing an article right now that's kind of along the same line.
Not seen the show, but them 3 top tips are the best advice that anyone can give for business owners!
Thanks for the reminder and the encouragement. I consider this encouragement because it reminds me that only hard work and patience is what will win out in the end. It's a hard slog.
Actually makes my blood run cold. If I felt I had to be like her i would give up the dream of making a living on the net or in business. A great article and well written by someone who knows their subject. TYVM,

Sticking with it is the most important thing and most difficult to do in my books.

I like the way you interpret you marketing professor's mantra: Focus on quality first before marketing the heck out of your product/article. This is an evergreen piece of advice!
