All About AndyPo

I have just joined Wizzley, but you may know me from other writing and photography web-sites - I have been writing and publishing on the internet for several years and can be found at various places including:

Squidoo

Zazzle

Helium

Most of my articles are about world travel and wildlife photography, travel and hotel reviews etc. but I have also written a lot about finance, investment, trading and how to make a living without too much risk, from the financial markets. I have written a few articles about my classic cars and also about food, drink and cooking.

I live in Richmond-upon-Thames in west London, England (the most beautiful of the London Boroughs) Despite being just 8 miles from the centre of London there are deer roaming free in Richmond Park and thousands of wild parrots (Indian parakeets that escaped a few decades ago and live and breed happily in the parks). Close to the world famous royal botanical gardens: Kew Gardens and Twickenham, the UK home of Rugby football.

I was born in Hemel Hempstead, a "New Town" just outside London, spent my early childhood in The Cotswolds, then school in Somerset in the Southwest of England and Hampshire in the south of England.

I read Natural Science (i.e. physics) at The University of Oxford, one of the oldest universities in the world, specialising in solid-state and atomic physics.

Work has been all over the world, working on new developments in silicon chip design, making them smaller, cheaper, faster and more energy efficient. A vast range of designs and products, from supercomputers and aviation control systems to consumer electronics such as mobile phones and DVD players.

For the last fifteen years (until I formed my own company) I was working for a large Silicon Valley consultancy and electronic design automation software company, effectively as a consultant physicist, based mainly in the UK office, near London, but frequently working elsewhere in Europe, Scandinavia, USA and even India. I have now formed my own consulting company, working from home, which allows me to dedicate more time to my young son and also to dabble in publishing my writing and photography on the internet to make some extra money.

My interests are photography, travel and wildlife/nature (and combinations of those) classic cars, eating, drinking, cooking and investment and finance. I have been managing my own investments for many years and make a good living from stock-trading and value investing

Ah Hemel Hempstead - I know it well but do not venture there very often ;) Richmond is definitely a lot nicer, what with the park and the deer and of course the river.

Great to see you on here Andy :)
