2011 Ford Escape

There are tons of people out there confused about which SUV they should buy. After all, there are just so many different models and brands on the market. When looking for a new SUV, you should go with a brand you trust. The 2011 Ford Escape is the all around package at an affordable price. This review will give you the details about this fantastic model from Ford. (Although this review does not cover pricing, you can find Ford prices at Car Buying Strategies and other online pricing resources.)

2011 Ford Escape

Key Features

One of the main advantages to the Ford Escape is the fuel efficiency. Most people think that all SUVs get horrible gas mileage. While this is true for the most part, it isn’t true for the Ford Escape. The Escape manages to get 23 miles per gallon in the city, which is much higher than any other SUV on the market.

If you want to get even better gas mileage, Ford offers a hybrid version that gets 34 miles per gallon in the city. What’s even better about the Escape’s gas mileage is that it doesn’t compromise on performance. The Escape will still handle well in snow, mud and rain.

Another key feature of the 2011 Ford Escape is the technology improvements. Something that many SUVs on the market lack is hands free communication. The Ford Escape allows you to access the weather and take phone calls without taking your hands off the road. This allows for safer driving and improved functionality. Also, you can get a rear backup camera and park assist. With these two technological improvements, the chances of you hitting another car are dramatically reduced.

Performance

Something that most people are concerned about when it comes to an SUV is performance. People that buy SUVs want to make sure they are buying a strong vehicle that will handle well in many different terrains, which the Escape does. The 2011 Ford Escape has three difference engine options. You can choose from a 2.5L Duratec I-4, a 3.0L Duratec V6 FFV, or the hybrid motor. The Escape accelerates fast due to its available 240 horsepower option. Even if you get the standard model, you will still be getting 171 horsepower. No matter what the occasion, this Ford will give you the get up and go you need. All three models of the Ford Escape feature power brakes with a 4 wheel anti-lock break system.

Driving the Ford Escape is an enjoyable experience. What’s wonderful about the Ford Escape is the versatility. If you are looking for a vehicle that drives like a car but has off road capabilities as well, then this car will suit you well. The Ford Escape drives very smooth and is quiet. When testing the off road capabilities, this SUV handled well. It will not give you the same power a full sized SUV will give you, but it gives you enough.

Styling

As you probably know, Ford has not changed the exterior styling of the Escape much over the years. Even though the exterior of the car did get a sizeable update in 2008, things have not changed much since then. The main way to differentiate a 2011 Escape from an earlier model is the grill. The grill of the 2011 Escape has chrome details that pre-2008 models don’t have.

Inside, the center control area is laid out in a rectangular format. The navigation system is placed at the top of this rectangle, while climate control buttons are placed below it. The interior styling of the car is very sleek and is sure to please.

While there are three different versions of the Escape, the body style does not change much no matter how much you upgrade the vehicle. There are three trim levels available for the Escape: XLS, XLT, and Limited. The XLS is the starting trim level and features basic amenities such as a single disc CD player. The XLT is the middle level trim package, which includes upgraded cloth seats, a power driver’s seat, and SecuriCode. SecuriCode allows drivers to unlock their car via the numerical keypad located on the outside of the car. The Limited package is the highest level trim package, featuring leather seats and car handles that match the color of your car. The available navigation system does not come standard with any package, but you can purchase it for an additional 1,995 dollars.

Safety

No matter what vehicle you are considering, it is important for it to have good safety features. Fortunately, the 2011 Ford Escape is one of the safest vehicles in its class. It received a very high crash test rating, as well as high ratings for specific crash areas. The Escape exceptionally protects passengers from driver head, neck, and torso injuries. This vehicle also substantially prevents injuries from happening in the rear passenger torso, and the rear passenger head and neck areas. The only two areas of safety that Ford needs to work on for this model are the driver pelvis area and the right leg area. These two areas still protected passengers well from injuries, but they could use improvement overtime.

Conclusion

The 2011 Ford Escape is a very high quality SUV that does more than just get you from place to place. Even though this is Ford’s entry level SUV model, the vehicle still boasts luxurious amenities such as hands free talking and a navigation system. Overall, the Ford Escape is an SUV you should seriously consider.
