30 Day Green Juice Fast

There are many reasons to do a juice fast including an opportunity for weight loss, detoxification and spiritual awakening.

I recently became familiar with the idea of juice fasting and at the time was not unfamiliar with green juicing and in fact a few years ago I embraced the raw food lifestyle and juicing was a large part of that diet. I even went so far as to buy a juicer!

Unfortunately like most good intentions I gradually fell off this eating style and reverted back to the good old standard American diet (SAD). It is sad for more reasons than one.

First of all I put on some weight, I didn't feel very good and I found after a while not only was I not sleeping very well but I seemed to be tired all the time. Naps in the afternoon were not uncommon on the weekends. I even started having panic/anxiety attacks. This all led me to my doctor who told me I had high blood pressure, my cholesterol levels were also high and I need to do something about all of these issues.

Well I went on some blood pressure medication. The first one I tried was an ace inhibitor. Not only did my blood pressure not go down, but after five weeks of being on the medication I had severe pain in my neck in shoulders. It felt like I was being stabbed repeatedly. So next I went on something called water pills. Those also didn't help to lower my blood pressure and worst of all I started gaining weight! Not a particularly good idea when I was trying to reduce my blood pressure!

So to make a long story short, I've decided I'm going to give this program a real try. Thirty days! Only one month! I should be able to follow this program for one month. After all Joe and Phil in the movie Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead followed the program for much longer.

There are many reasons to do a juice fast including an opportunity for weight loss, detoxification and spiritual awakening. By only consuming food as a juice this allows the body to easily absorb the nutrients since little digestion is required.

Raw vegetable juices also have an alkalizing effect on the body and helps reduce acidity and inflammation. There is also some evidence that soluble fiber in fresh juices can help to reduce cholesterol. As well drinking only juice brings a high concentration of antioxidants into the body at one time.

Best Green Juice Recipe

1 green apple
1 cucumber
5 large leaves of spinach or kale
1/2 lemon, peeled
1/2 inch piece of ginger (optional)

Wash all ingredients and cut to sizes that will fit into your juicer. Juice. Makes approximately 10 ounces.

What To Know Before You Start Juicing!

Whenever you start a new program it is always a good idea to have a goal. This way you will know if you are successful or not and if there is anything you have to modify in order to reach your goal. The goal could be for how long you wish to stay on the juice fast or it could be the amount of weight you want to reduce.

If you plan on starting a juice fast you need to decide for how long you will stay on the fast. If this is your first time on a juice fast, you should plan on giving it a go for at least one week. This will not only give your body a chance to detox, but it will help reduce your appetite. You also might find that you have a sharper sense of taste.

Once you have decided on how long you want to stay on the juice fast you will need to set up a shopping list based on the recipes you will be using. In order to be successful with this plan you will need to have all the fresh vegetables and fruits you will need in order to make your juice.

In order to maintain your energy level and not get hungry, you should be having a juice (between 16 and 32 ounces) at least four times a day. If you do feel hungry, have a juice. As well you will want to drink lots of water throughout the day. This will help to cleanse your digestive system. Also, you won't feel as hungry. Often we are thirsty and not hungry!

One way to make this enjoyable is to prep your vegetables and fruits. Organize your fridge and have everything read will not only save you some time, but you won't be frustrated when it comes to making your juice. Get some baggies and just cut up everything you will need for one drink and add the ingredients to the baggie. Then, all you need to do is take the baggie out of the fridge and put the vegetables and fruit through the juicer!

I really need to get back on the meal replacements and juices again. I have been on fruit and yogurt for lunch recently until this week when my body decided that It Needed Savory Food Please. No accounting for taste,

I haven't fasted but I got a Nutribullet as a gift and have been drinking a large juice for lunch every day. I feel so much better and have more energy than before. I'm going to try your best green juice recipe. Great information.
